This game may have some flaws but who cares? It's fun and thats why they made it. I don't exspect perfect from Nintendo.

Sado-masochistic difficulty

I was highly anticipating Excitebike 64. I came really close to preordering it. I had read positive reviews before it came out. But I had to rent it. And I'm glad that I did.

I don't know why, but this just doesn't seem like an Excitebike game. It has the feel of a regular old motorcycle racing game. I don't know what I was expecting, but this wasn't it.

Also, you'll find that this game has one of the most insanely high difficulty levels ever. Usually, I do very well at racing games, but this is insane. Some may find that addictive, but I found it to be offputting. I didn't WANT to play it anymore, because I knew I would go nowhere. I mean, even the tutorial is somewhat difficult. INSANITY!!

So, if your into sado-masochism, I say give it a whirl. But if you hate to have a game constantly and consistently kick you arse with no hope of advancement, skip it.

Very Good Game With Some Minor Flaws

I think this is a great remake of a once well known classic super nintendo game made in 1984, however despite that this game has a few minor flaws which i may discuss later in my review.

The graphics are great, one of n64's best graphics yet, especially for a motocross game, but annoying little graphics glitches sometimes appear which is a shame, otherwise the graphics are smooth and nice on the eyes. Just the little graphic glitches which decrease its score to 4.5/5.

The sound is pretty good, the music through out the game is easy enough to cope with. As for the sound effects, they are what you would expect from an extreme game. You hear yells when you ride off a cliff, you can hear the irrating motorbike noise as you race, you can hear thumps when you hit the ground hard. The only complaint about the sound is that the comentator's speech is a little repetitive, but otherwise you can get rid of the comentator. 4/5

The controls are not very good at times your bike just goes any random direction. The reason why the game is hard is due to the control. Otherwise its pretty easy to pull of tricks, however there could have been a better job on the control. 3.5/5

The fun factor is pretty good, you can race your friends on which ever tracks you have completed, and you can verse them on most of the special tracks which you can get by winning certain stages. The special features include the "desert" where you just race to a fire and then race to the next fire, no multiplayer for this. "stunt course" is a course where you can challenge your friends or yourself in performing as many stunts to get as many points. "original excitebike" is a feature you get by completing the tutorial. Its just the super nintendo version of excitebike. "soccer" is a feature were you verse your friends in soccer on a bike. "hill climb" is were you verse your friends or yourself up a steep hill. "excite 3d" is a really good fun race course. The main fun factor in this game is the create a track mode. While there may be many features, this game doesn't have many great features. 4/5

The replay value is great, and probably the most effective thing about the game. You will want to keep racing on those very nice outdoor/indoor tracks. 5/5

The main things which bother me about this game is that it could improve 1. Contain more stunts i mean 15 stunts isn't much for a motocross game. 2. Make it that you can control the time limit for the stunt course, i mean 2 minutes, c'mon. 3. Make the controls easier.

The main highlights of the game is the create a trak mode which allows you to create a track, the high replay value and the very interesting outdoor tracks.

The Best game of it's Genre, intense multiplayer.

This is definately the best of both worlds. On one hand, it's a great single player game with accurate physics and fun courses. There is also good replay value because there are a ton of secrets, and new courses to open up (including the original NES Excitebike!)

It is also a very intense multiplayer game. There is something demonically wonderful about hitting your friends front tire with your back tire and watching them take a spill into a wall head first! It is just really FUN!

The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the frame rate can be choppy when you have 4 players, also, it has a steep learning curve, so it is a game for experts. HOWEVER, you don't need to be an expert to enjoy this game, especially the multiplayer! Pick this one up. Reccomended.

Excitebike 64 is the best Nintendo game so far!

Everyone loves this game, the graphics and the gameplay are really great. I agree with the reviews, this game deserves all the high scores it's getting. There are 20 regular tracks and loads of bonus mode including the original Excitebike, there's a lot of stuff to play. You can even play soccer or make your own tracks!

The first time you play Excitebike64, you won't find as fun as you thought it would be. It can get very frusterating at times. Especialy when you are trying to win races in the Season Mode. But don't get me wrong. It is a very fun game. It just takes a little while to get used to everything, like the controls! I hade so much trouble turning, accelerating, ect. But after I tried and tried, I got a little better each time. It is a great game! The sound is a great feature of this game. Its really sound like racing dirtbike! The Exibition Mode is also very fun! race against your friends and see who is the best! The Special Tracks that you can go on in the main menu Are also really fun! if you win certain races in the Season Mode, hidden tracks will appear in Special Tracks. So this is a really fun game! I recomend it to anyone who has a nintendo64! Thanks!

Great game, skill not included

This is a very deep and challenging game.

Example: There are four different ways to turn, three ways to "turbo" and all sorts of stunts you can do in the air, and believe me you will need all of that to beat this game. In fact, this game is so deep that it turned popping wheelies into an art form.

Also, there are a variety of very challenging tracks to do all this stuff on, from california cicra 1850 to massive arenas to snowy lakes. Jumps, turns and shortcuts abound, and it is not uncommon to get launched 50, maybe 60 feet in the air (at least that's what it seems like, I'm not a good judge of such things) The real fun of jumps is landing on someone else =)

That's not the only form of combat. The computer AI is very agressive, trying to push you off the road, get in front of you and "drop" you with their back wheel. Of course, you can do the same to them, or to three of your buddies in multi-player mode.

Also in the rakns of multipayer are a challenging hill climb, a stunt course, and an oddly fun "soccer" game for 1v1 or 2v2. You can also go it alone, on a vast desert and two versions of the original excitebike.

I almost forgot the course creator. Kinda limited, but still fun. Once you unlock it, you can make your own "season" with tracks you have constructed.

It's not roaring fast, nor is it dazzlingly pretty, but Excitebike is a game that will keep you fascinated, and fustrated, for weeks on end.

Get the motor running into overdrive!

"Excitbike 64" is a great racing game. You can choose from many motorcyclists who all have different strengths and weaknesses to play an endless number of different kinds of modes. You can play a season, which is a lot like a tournament where you try to come in first place to win and get a new set of tracks. There's also an exhibition mode where you can play all the tracks separately with up to four players. Believe it or not, that's just the beginning of the modes of play that you can select from. There's also a time trial mode, one where you can build and customize your own track, and many others.

The tracks in Excitebike 64 are either indoor or outdoor tracks and can range from a desert where you have to jump across a huge canyon to indoor tracks like you see on television motorcycle races. To give you an extra boost, you can use turbo at anytime to make your bike go faster while you're racing, just as long as you don't overheat your engine.

What really makes Excitebike 64 stand out from most of the other motorcycle games is that it includes many options of play to keep the replay value sky high even after you beat the game and get all the tracks. You can earn and play the original Excitebike from the first Nintendo system, you can play a soccer game where you and a friend can compete and see who gets the most points, there's a desert level where you go up against other computer players to try and find all the hills of fire and run over them before they do, and many others. Pretty much, this game will never get old.

Most of the basics of the game are great. The graphics are some of the best for the Nintendo 64, the sound and music go along well with the tracks, and this game never runs out of the fun factor. The only thing about the game that's not almost perfect is the control. When you first play the game, you might scoff at the controls a little bit because they take some getting used to. Once you get used to the controls, this game will be one of your favorites. If you like racing games, I definitely recommend getting Excitebike 64.

I was looking for a dirt bike game for my kids and read the reviews of this one and bought it based on that review. They were so right. This is a fun game that has fantastic graphics. It is a hit with my family! We don't even own a dirt bike, but really enjoy this game.
