Looks Great, But Buggy

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 4 / 4

I have only started playing this game. It looks great on the screen, but it has some obvious and annoying bugs. Sometimes dialogue appears on the screen, but there's no voice for it. At one point, I heard a continuous clop-clopping sound and it turned out to be Hermione stuck on the stairs, walking but not moving. My guess is that the game had to meet a target date, ready or not. Too bad there's no updating a game that's on a disc.

Not A Good Game

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" is probably the worst Potter game I have played. There are many bugs that make the game just way too frustrating.

The camera angle is horrible- it shifts at the worst moments and one finds oneself going in the same direction one came from.

There's something wrong with the sound- sometimes you hear the characters voices and sometimes you don't.

The characters tend to get stuck- for example, I was going down to the Potions dungeon when Harry got stuck on the top landing of the staircase and there was no way to get him out. It was like he sank into the stone. I had to restart the game, which made me lose little but important progress. Be sure to save constantly!

A slightly positive thing about the game is that it resembles the castle in the movie more than any other Harry Potter game. But this can also be quite annoying- for example, it takes way too long to climb the staircase to get to the Gryffindor Common room because apart from there being many staircases, they are constantly moving. Getting to one end of the castle to the other takes a lot of time if the passageways through the portraits aren't unlocked. The castle being very large is not exactly a plus.

I gave it three stars for fun because when everything is working okay, it's an okay game. Dueling and finding things in the game is entertaining. Overall it's a two because it could have been much better.

Really, This Is Bad...

I just have to give my 2 cents here. This game is awful. Buying something like this just encourages the production of more bad games. I don't find any fault with producing a movie based game, but the programmers/designers need to have some time to make a decent and playable video game.
We've gotten to the point where any game based on a movie is EXPECTED to be bad just because this has become status quo.
It doesn't have to be this way. Just stop buying this kind of crap and it will disappear. It may never be replaced, or it may be replaced by licensed tie-ins that actually have merit. Any option is better than this bullpoo.
