If only the kids in my high school looked this good...

I'll try and stick with the specifics of the gameplay and avoid too much commentary. This game is OK, but it could have been a lot more.
I would describe this as a "round-based, relationship game". A round is one school week. Your character gets up on Monday, gets dressed and has a little time for the computer. Then it is off to school. You have probably time enough to talk with 2 or 3 other kids before you have to get to class. Talking with other kids is VERY important, because this is basically the only chance you get for any given round, and talking is how you advance your relationships. Here is where things got a little weird; you flash-forward to Friday afternoon (there is no Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning, etc). Here you have either your job or your after-school club. By the way, you don't do anything at a job or club; these are strictly for earning money or improving your grades. Your character then wakes up on Saturday morning and can either study (all day) or goof off and call people on the phone or go on the computer. If you have a date, that happens Saturday night. That is pretty much it for a round. For some reason, there is no Sunday.
This game is all about relationships. There is no free-roam or things in the environment to interact with (except the computer and the clothes closet). Your character can't leave their room except to go to school or out on dates. You can't go hang out at the mall or go to a friend's house. Each round is very fast-paced. You rush to school, find who you want to talk to (if you can) and then run to class to avoid the hall monitor.
The game is about relationships, but there is very little time to develop them. There is absolutely no way you could talk with everyone in the game and go through their "story". This does give the game some replay value, in a strange way. The game lasts for one school year, so it is probably about 30 rounds or so.
The dating part is kind of interesting. You definitely have to get to know the person in order to get them interested. I didn't get too many dates, partially because I sometimes couldn't find the person I was looking for! On dates, you go to different places, but you only talk with your date.
I started to enjoy the game play style, because there was always something to look forward to; someone you needed to talk to or do a favor for. It is a decent hand-held game, because the rounds are pretty short. It would give me a headache if I played it too long. However, right when I was just figuring things out, the school year was over.
The good:
- Graphics and soundtrack are good
- Some of the characters are pretty interesting
- The round-based gaming can be pretty compelling. I usually couldn't wait until the next round so I could find the person I was looking for.
The bad:
- It can be really hard to find the other kid(s) you are looking for. There are lots of them and you only get once chance per round (aside from phone calls).
- You can't call people until you get their number, and you can't get a phone number unless someone gives it to you. (no yellow pages)
- It got frustrating trying to figure out how to advance some relationships. You have to talk to the right people to get tidbits about others. If you try talking to the same people again, you will just have the same conversations over and over. You have to find something out about them first, and that can be kind of hard (there isn't too much conversation time in any given round).
- There was very little time to interact with the other characters. If you accidentally started talking with the wrong person, you probably will miss out on finding who you were looking for.
- For me, the worst part was no free-roam, no ability to explore.
Overall, it is OK. It is certainly very different. However, those who are looking for a SIMS-like experience will want to avoid this one.
Major bug makes game unplayable

This game has so much promise, but in its current state it's unplayable. There is a known bug (go to the FAQ section of the Konami website where they coyly hint at the problem) that prevents you from saving the game if you're using anything but a Sony-brand 256MB Memory Stick. I have a SanDisk 4GB card that the game won't save to. Trust me, there's nothing wrong with the card. The card, game and PSP were all brand new, bought the same day.
I'm currently fighting it out with Konami to get a refund since the store I bought the game from won't allow you to return a game that's been opened.
Bottom line -- if you don't have a Sony 256MB Memory Stick, you can't save, so unless you like starting from scratch each time you turn on your PSP, forget about it. Maybe they're working on a patch, but till then, stay away.
Love this game......................

I am a 30 year old married novice gamer. This game brings back so many high school memories. The only difference is the guys are hotter in the video game world.
You have to gain popularity and confidence while conversing with other students. You are obligated to become a self absorb, manipulative, and sometimes comical character. If you are a seasoned gamer, I do not recommend this product.

I'm an adult who can sometimes get lost in a video game. Not this one. Many years ago I had a Leisure Suit Larry game that I really enjoyed and hoped that this would be a little bit along those lines. It wasn't. You're pretty much trapped into a boring schedule of being locked in your apartment, or out at school with only a couple of minutes to do anything. There's an incredibly limited amount of things you can do in each section of the game, and when you finally get somewhere (or get a date) the payoff is anti-climactic. Game has a few bugs too. Repetitions, a character asking you to call - and then you have to go through the same dialogue you did earlier in the game when you do. Confusion and glitches in other areas too. Save yer money. :)

i haven't really played many dating sims, but this one had me glued to the psp til it was done, which thankfully didn't take too long, as the game is very short. i mean, you literally get to the end in what, 4-5 hours? but that's good, cuz it was kinda addictive while it lasted
anyway, jody's obviously the one. she's the best combination of looks and especially brains. courtney's not bad, if that's what her name was, i forget. the pink-haired one's okay. the blonde queen-ish one isn't bad either. the rest are kinda off. the guys are actually modeled better than the girls, if you ask me. like that one black guy
anyway, i'd like to see more dating sims. sure, they get crappy scores, but they're a near-10 in my book, since i'm a loser ;D
but i can't believe it got a T rating. a game mentioning 'scoring' so often usually warrants an M or even an A. well, they don't really show anything to warrant an A, i suppose, besides those suggestive phallic symbols near the end, of an oil rig, a screwdriver, etc., but still, aiming a game at teens and then tellin em to fornicate isn't exactly keepin it coshure in the kitchen, if you catch me. that one girl with the sunflower in one of the earlier videos is hot. whoa suga'
gameplay: not really 'fun' so much as 'addicting.' the problem is, it doesn't even really warrant playing a 2nd time, unless you absolutely love more than 1 of the girls. i was happy enough maxing out my "rel" ("relationship") with jody and seeing (more like 'reading') the ending
lasting appeal: a superficial jolly, at best. i suggest final fantasy tactics war of the lions, and field commander, and jeanne de arc (whatever it's called). you can pretend you're dating jeanne. hint: she likes axes. go get'er, tiger ;)
i just wish you could be a girl and then date girls. i tried that but i kept getting rejected for some reason. "hey starlight, how'd you like to come over to my house this saturday? okay, okay... your loss, 'sister'." go fig
anywho, that's that. more dating sims, please. just ignore the awful sales!:D

This game is mediocre, but has potential to be better. I'm hoping there will be an even better sequal.
