This game is awesome. The scene is like this: You have a helicopter. In the first level, there are three cities. They are: Diabloville, Sea Cliff and one more, I forgot the name. Or you can use a SimCity you made using SimCity2000. There are many things to do: You must put out fires, clear traffic jams, rescue people from the tops of buildings, medevac Sims (don't ask), stop criminals, transport people from one place to another or end a riot. It's a very fun game.

SimCopter, in its most confusing ways, is one of the most expansive low-grade flight simulators I have ever seen. The graphics are VERY poor, but the game itself is very fun and interesting, full of twists, turns and FUN. Beware, the upgrade option IS NOT YOUR FRIEND! Use with caution, and as always, have fun and don't expect something magnificent, because it's not. Also import cities and fly them as you please. Overall, a good game, but be a smart shopper. -CJK

If you are a SimCity lover like me, you will enjoy SimCopter. You get to fly around your favorite SimCity 2000 city in one of many helicopters. That's the only good part. The main point gets dull, and the 3-D engine is horrible. This is a game for sc2k freaks, but not for the average buyer. Barf!
CHEAT BOX: press CONTROL+ALT+C at the same time and enter in the box: superpowermultiply - when you press shift, you go extra fast. Nifty for across-town fires. shields up- NO DAMAGE! I'm the CEO of McDonnall Douglas - after typing this in, go into the hanger, Visit the area you buy helicopters and press 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. Then go back outside and; tada! ALL THE HELICOPTERS.

SimCopter had potential

The one phrase to best describe SimCopter is "lost potential". The game, conceptually, is very interesting, and even in gameplay is a whole buttload of fun. In modern terms, think Sega's Crazy Taxi mixed with a Flight Simulator and you get the picture. The music on the SimRadio is gorgeous, and the jazz tune by Marc Russo inspired me on my lost cause to find a copy of his discontinued "The Window" CD. I love the radio ads, and how cool is it to use the copter speaker?
But... the flaws with the game seriously outweigh the game's very great potential and fun. The graphics are poor. There are serious bugs. The 1.1 update caused even more problems than it solved. People run into walls or are stuck in walls. Games are guaranteed to crash after a while, with the data unrecoverable.
I only have one hope for SimCopter: That Maxis go back to the drawing board and update this terribly bad game with so much going for it. If it lived up to what Maxis and Will Wright had intended, it would definately have been one of the most amusing games of all time. Now, it's stuck to people who saw it's potential and discount shelves at local computer stores.
One of a kind! A good game.

SimCopter is over two years old now, so of course the graphics look old but zipping around a city provides a nice feel for speed and flight, and for pure esthetics, it is a pretty game. There are some Sims who get stuck, but it's not a game breaker and even on the occasional crash, you can still restart and continue on your merry way. You'll get 10X the gameplay if you have SC2K so you can design your own cities, then fly them. It's just plain FUN! With the 1.02 patch, you get a more realistic flight mode so there's more challenge.

SimCopter is a truly unique experience. Yes, you can actually be the chopper pilot who, in SimCity 2000, says "SimCopter One Reporting Heavy Traffic!" as you fly around in your own SimCities or those provided with the game. Each time you go through the Career levels you will encounter something different, sometimes surprising, often challenging, never boring. There's even a hidden bonus in the highest levels.
I don't spend a lot of time with computer games, but this one grabbed me immediately (I'd been looking forward to it long before it was released) and never let go. Sure, some things are unfinished and there are a few glitches and abnormalities, but they only ADD to the experience. One of the appeals is that it is NOT a flashy shoot-em-up. So give it a try, and it may capture you as it has captured me.
A Classic Copter Sim!

SimCopter is the most enjoyable 'copter sim there is! Unlike most flight sims, you don't need a PHD to learn to fly. You can fly with either the keyboard or any joystick. And I've heard real helicopter pilots say that the physics of the flight make it feel just like the real thing. Maxis did a wonderful job with this one, even given the few bugs that remain.
The main draw is being able to fly in your own SimCity 2000 cities, which extends the game quite a bit - if you don't have SC2000 you can still download lots of cities to fly in - or just fly the mission included. SimCopter is not a 'shoot em up' game, which does turn off those people who just want a mindless killfest. You can, however kill if you must, provided you can get the 'secret' Apache helicopter.
The graphics are not terrible, like you may have heard, but they don't knock your eyes out either. Which allows it to be played on something as slow as a 486DX2! You don't have to have a killer PIII 700mhz computer or an Athalon, like most new games. And to me, that's a real plus. Hey, what ya want, drop-dead graphics or a fun game?

I had a great time with the game Sim Copter. It took only a couple of minutes to learn the proper flying tecniques. You don't need to be an expert pilot to be good at this game. I found it quite interesting because of all the little things added in. I love the idea of having different radio stations that you can listen to, and the commercials on those stations were very creative. I do believe, however, that this wasn't one of Maxis's triumphant games. The graphics aren't all that great, and I couldn't stand when the criminals that you have to catch would get stuck on an unreachable part of a building. The part that I liked most was probably the freedom to fly anywhere you want. The city was open to almost anything you wanted to do. Overall I think that Sim Copter was a very good game but could have been better with a couple of improvements.
Mediocre game

Sim Copter is a beginners helicopter-rescue game with few goodies. The graphics look like they were drawn by a nitwit fourth grader and could be improved alot, the gameplay is OK, and you can't control what you do. If there is a traffic jam and you are sent to relay a police SWAT team, you can't do much more than press a key combo on you're keyboard. The nice thing aabout this game is that you can import you're SimCity cities into it just to have the pleasure of flying around, poking you're nose into office buildings. If you are a casual or beggining gamer, you might be satisfied with SimCopter, but for serious action, go for something else.
Great fun!

Simcopter has been reputed to have a lot of bugs. This has been greatly exaggerated and underneath these minor problems lies a fun game with almost endless replayability and one easily able to provide many hours of entertainment. Most graphics are actually well done. There are multiple landscape surfaces, mountains (with snow and all), trees, and animated water. If you travel outside the city limits, you will find a combination of trees, water and mountains that is completely random and provides for a believable wilderness area. Best of all, the game allows you to import your OWN SimCity 2000 cities so you can fly around in them and perform missions corresponding to your city's ACTUAL characteristics. From medevacs to drive-in movies, riots to boat rescues, this game has it all. A must-have for Simcity 2000 fans, but also fun for everyone.
