Does anyone know how to catch the "night rider"?

I am thoroughly enjoying this game, esp. the competitions. The grooming does get a little old every once in a while, esp. once you have won several horses. I like that the game has 3 levels (easy, normal, hard) and that you get different horses to choose from and even different color clothing to choose from when you ride. Practicing is fun, so is galloping on the beach and blasting around the trails. I also like that you can pace your horse during practice and the competitions - he walks, trots, has 4 different canters/gallops and backs up. Like one other reviewer, I am a lot older than most of the people who play this game (early 40's), but I grew up showing horses and missed being able to do things with horses so I looked for a computer simulation. This game has really met my needs. I bought another game called "Jump and Ride" and it is horrible - it takes forever to move from screen to screen, there are no courses and the animation is pretty bad. Just FYI. Now, one more thing: The only problem I am having with this game is catching or following the "night rider." I get messages like "you got too close and the rider saw you" or "you were unable to follow" when he jumps the boulders. If you have solved this problem, please write a review of this game and put in the solution. I've tried various "cheat" sites, but couldn't find a thing. Thanks!

I was supremely dissapointed in this game---my computer cannot play it! My video card (a very recent version of 'Intel') is apparently not compatible, despite the fact that I have played other games with DirectX. While I do think the game would be great, I strongly suggest that anyone interested in buying check the website and make sure that their video card is not one of the several types that does not work.

If you are like me, and your video card will not work with the game, an excellent alternative is "Let's Ride: The Rosemond Hill Collection". That is also a good alternative for younger players as it is less complicated and requires less patience.

Originally my opinion of this game was very poor, however, it was due to the fact that my graphics card was not compatible with the game and made it somewhat unplayable and frustrating. Unfortunately I cannot change the star rating :\

Once that problem was fixed, it was a very enjoyable game to play and the mystery was engaging, even for an adult such as myself :-) There is another Saddle Up game that is just as good to play as well.

Warning: Extremely Boring

The graphics might rock, but the game is repetitive. Everyday you do the same thing: Wake up, Go to the barn at 0.5 miles an hour. Clean the horses & the stalls, and ride. Then you clean the horses again, walk at 0.5 miles per hour yet again, and go back to bed. I suggest not to spend your money on this game. My horse farm is a much better game.

This game is a really great game, and I play it as often as I can. It can be a bit confusing when first starting out, but I soon got the hang of it. It's really fun, and there are lots of things to do in this game. It's a great game if you don't want to be riding all the time. I'm horse-crazy and I'm very focused on the quality of the graphics, and although they aren't the greatest, they're definitley better than alot of horse games. And the best part is, there's no dressage!

Waste of Time

This game is impossible. Save your money and don't buy it! It really is not like taking care of a real horse! The time it took me to clean the hooves on this game I could have cleaned 5 of my real horses. I took it back, after the first night of playing it.

It is just a horrible game!

Difficult......

this game is not very fun.. but i never got very far because mine got messed up at the beginning, but your person is the slowest walker ever to be in a videogame! it took me five minutes just to walk in a circle.... This game is fun only when you are riding... nothing else....if you want a FUN FUN FUN horse game, go find another game... not this one... i love horses, and if i got further maybe i would like it....

Not great for the younger player

My daughter is seven, and she's pretty darned good at most computer games. She loves horses (not up close and personal, though), so her dad bought Saddle Up for her. She got the hang of riding the courses and doing the grooming tasks fairly quickly... but I think she's too young to solve the "challenges" in the game. And I'm just a dumb mommy, which means I'm no help at all.

The manufacturer's website offers NO hints at all. And the customer discussion forum is just full of comments from people who couldn't get the game loaded.

Many of the happy reviewers here seem to be teenagers. I would advise, dear parent, that you avoid buying this game if your kidlet is around the age of my own. She does enjoy the riding and grooming, but since we can't seem to get any further into the "adventure" side of the story, she has gotten bored and rather frustrated. Me, too!

Great Game, But it could be better

"Saddle Up,Time to Ride" is a very fun game. You get to choose from different Horses and such, but into the middle of the game, I guess you could say it gets very demanding. You have like 4 Horses and two days to train them. The end of the game makes no since to me whatsoever. It has to do with cards and a theif and once you figure out the code, the game is over. They could of added more becuse I finished the game in 1 day. Good overall.
