This is the first puzzle game I've purchased and it was HARD. If it wasn't for the cheats and shortcuts site I found I would have never gotten past the first puzzle. The graphics are great, but again not an easy puzzle. If your a novice at puzzle games like I am stay away from this one. Wish I had found an easier game to start with that would have stirred my interest if looking for more puzzle games. Think I'll stick with my strategy games such as Pharaoh.
Good for Myst Enthusiasts

This is quite an enjoyable game for those of us who adore the first-person Adventure genre, particularly of the 'ageless fantasy' type, a la Myst, Riven, etc. Reasonably difficult puzzles, beautiful surroundings, and atmospheric music are all there.
My fellow and I were at first disappointed to see that we were forced into the role of an already created character, Umang, and that the people in the game were 3D renderings, rather than live video. Umang, however, really grew on us. He's so cheerful and dedicated to his quest!
The quest is a bit mysterious; as some have already noted, the storyline is somewhat vague. Talking of the few drawbacks, it is a bit odd that certain areas to remain unapproachable until one talks to a certain character, but we chalked this up to Umang's politeness (a good quality, of course, though mildly disruptive to gameplay in this one respect). Note also that there are some peculiar sounds present in all scenes that have nothing to do with what's going on (e.g. siren, snarling beast noise, rustling). These alarmed us the first few times we heard them.
Good fun, immersing, easy to get around, and one is motivated to explore simply due to the impressive surroundings. Definitely worth a go!
Fun, even for the older gamers

I am a grandmother who loves to game, this is a great game with lots of puzzles that challenge the mind, and no fighting or killing. Good graphics and story line. In the genre of Myst, and just about as good. Try it, you'll like it.
Just another Puzzle Game

You enter a room, collect some things, and solve a puzzle. Then, you enter another room and solve a puzzle. Then, you go outside and solve a puzzle. Then, you go someplace else and solve some puzzles. Exquisitely rendered graphics cannot compensate for the absence of a story, interesting characters, or dialogue. One walkthrough simply dismisses the game and tells you how to solve the puzzles. It is just another puzzle game.

This game gave me trouble almost from the start. It asked for CD1 after full install then gave an error message, it wouldn't accept CD1. What error? I don't know. I installed the patch but that did no good. The game just wouldn't play. I tried the game on another new computer and the same problems arose.
I was able to play up to where the dude asked for puzzle pieces then it all fell apart.
If you buy this game I hope you have better luck than I. I am a fan of adventure games. I am not a fan of Aura.

This game is not bad. I don't know - maybe I'm just a bit jaded after finishing the entire Myst series and a few other miscellaneous "adventure games", but this is a pretty good "beginner's game" for someone new to adventure gaming.
The puzzles really aren't that hard, and God knows they give you enough hints and clues for most of the puzzles. However, like the other Adventure Company games I've played, it is heavy on inventory, and there are at least two items that are hard to find - especially if you don't realize you're supposed to be looking for them!
The graphics are absolutely gorgeous - possibly the best I've ever seen (and, as a Myst veteran, that's saying a lot!). However, I wish game companies would stop using computer-generated people. They always - and I mean always - look awful. They really should stick to live actors.
The music is very heavily synthesized, and comes across as heavily pretentious. (The music for the third world of Na-Tiexu reminds me of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir".) Then again, maybe I'm just spoiled after hearing Tim Larkin's wonderful scores for Uru and Myst V.
I've read reviews about how buggy the game is, but I found the 1.04 patch and installed it, and had no problems, except that it would crash if I tried to delete old saved games.
There's a sequel called "The Sacred Rings" that's still in production as of this writing. I'm looking forward to it.
Awesome!!

Great Game ! Really enjoyed once I got the hang of it. The puzzles seem to get easier as it goes and towards the end it almost becomes a "try each item" kind of game.Worth the price.
should you have to purchase a book to make it work?

Despite the rather weak character presentation, I really enjoyed the game's puzzles and the scenery of it until nothing I could do would advance it. I checked a hint site and two downright walkthroughs and found I had done everything I was supposed to, but could get no response from the character who had to continue speaking to me for the game to go any farther. When I asked the company, I was told I would need to purchase a $9.95 book that would maybe reveal something I, and all the hint sites, had overlooked.
A pretty homage to it's forefathers

Paying tribute in it's wonderfully lush pre rendered backgrounds of alien environments to it's parent, Myst, Aura feels more like a buget version of that game rather then an emulation of one...While the production values certainly do not lack in the art department, the gameplay feels even more contrived then your typical "desloate alien landscape" adventure game, due to it's forced presentation of puzzles and pacing..You could do much worse with a myst clone though, that is for sure.
Intriguing

I love the type of game where you can explore new worlds. The best part of this game is the overall No holds barred being able to look all around you! It's awesome. And the music...the puzzles. It keeps you interested and I love it!
