I've spent a lot of time playing this, so I've obviously got my money's worth. There is a nice selection of games and the presentation is quite decent.
I like the way that the other players are "real" characters who talk to you. It's corny, but I find it does add to the fun of playing cards. True, I'm a bit mystified why these characters include talking animals and an alien from space, but you can edit out any characters you don't like, which is fine.
BUT - and here we come to my very big gripe against this game - I discovered that Bridge was essentially unplayable. The game documentation includes a guide to the bidding system, Standard American Yellow Card, which the game supposedly uses. The trouble is, it does nothing of the sort. I eventually realized that there is very little logic to the computer players' bidding. This was totally exasperating. Learning Bridge is hard enough as it is, and is simply impossible if the computer players just make it up as they go along!
I still have fun playing simpler games like Gin, Rummy 500, and Go Fish. But I only give this game 3 Stars because of the broken Bridge.
Lots of fun, but lots of system errors

I have owned Hoyle card games for years and I have always enjoyed them, but I have never had so many technical issues before, especially on the Cribbage game and then also on Hearts. (I saw one reviewer has had problems on Spades, but this has always worked for me.) Customer Support is of no help. They told me my system was too old (although it did have the minimum system requirements). When I got my new computer, it stil didn't work. I am so waiting for the new version to come out and hoping that the bugs will have been worked out!

I like the characters and even 'talk' to them. They have their own 'Personalities'. I also like the convinience of not having to use the disk whenever I play. I enjoy this game very much!
Just great

I had the older version 2002, this new version has lots more characters and facemakers,,backgrounds are super and many more games to play. Also has very good background music, if you want to listen to it. Colors are super also. all around good game package.

I bought this game package so I would be able to improve my Bridge skills and I very disappointed. The bids (opening and responding) made no sense at all -- even for a novice. An example -- an opening bid of 2 NT with 10 points and a six card suit.
I would like to give the package a rating of minus 5 stars but that is not allowed. Net -- I would not buy this package again.
Great game

I love Hoyle Card Games. Ever since the Facemaker came along, I've been having fun creating versions of people I know. This latest iteration is no exception, but now you are doing your customizations with Hoyle Bucks - a virtual carrot for you to chase that "unlocks" neat new features.
These new features include the ability to make monsters and pets (one style cat and dog, unfortunately), choose new music, choose new decks and backgrounds, and customize your character's play space with objects such as disco balls and a cold beverage. The virtual carrots also include new boards for cribbage. Nicely done.
My one point of contention comes with the new players and the bowing out of some old players.
The carryover players, such as Harley and Elaine, have very few new lines, if any. The new characters are pretty shallow and not entertaining in the least, save Capt. Scurvy. One question: What happened to GAX?! I'd drop Roswell in a second in favor of Gax.
By the way... Kudos for adding Spite and Malice!! It's my new favorite game!

There are several programming errors. As an example it doesn't save
the settings consistently so you will have to constantly reset it to your preferences. The game play is below average and there are not enough game specific options. For a simple card game program that Hoyle has updated for many years, it falls short in quality. I expected a much more refined product. My suggestion is to look elsewhere.

Great fun! Especially enjoy playing Euchre. Even the game of Fish is fun.
