While not for everyone, the game has some great humor for those that like to see the humor in everything. Players control a gang of Hooligans as they attempt to become the top Hooligan group in Europe during a soccer season. some funny live action video mixed with some fun yet graphic gameplay makes this a cult classic. True the graphics are dated, the game can be hard to play at times, and the materical controversial, but for the price, you cant lose, I laughed my head off at some of the jokes in the game. For mature players only, but a great time for the price.
Terrible, worthless game.

I honestly cannot understand the controversy surrounding this game. In such an age of bold and daring gaming products we are expected to buy and ENJOY Hooligans? I have never played a game so redunant and mundane. The gameplay and idea behind it all is so impossibly repetitive. You have to the same thing (break into shops, steal the money) over and over. Who thot this would make for an enjoyable experience.
The graphics are terrible, characters are tiny-perhaps made of about 10 pixels max, every level is the same, every shop looks the same, controlling characters is difficult and annoying and the whole thing becomes tiresome incredibly quickly. If you like scrolling beat-em ups then check out a game like The Rage or perhaps some of the Streetfighter games. They are far superior in every way.
Hooligans has about as much to do with football as Sesame Street has to do with narcotic dealing. Kind of like real football hooliganism. At least that's fun to watch, and free.
