I work in a Dr's office and I saw this game in the store and I really wanted to try it out. I got the sample version, but I really want the regular version. From what I got from it, it was the best game on the computer to play. You can really see what the Dr's go through. It is tuff, but enjoyable. I hope you never stop making this kind of game. Thanks for the chance to see what goes on back stage.

I purchased this software when it was fairly new on the market, and I must say that it gets better and better. You are the attending physician for patients that visit the ER. You begin as a med student, and as you successfully treat patients and their health level improves, you move up in rank. There are so many different possibilities for cases, that it would take an eternity to treat them all. The nurses and other staff members, even your boss, will give you praise and/or a promotion when you do will, or scold you when you do poorly. You can't kill anyone, because Dr. D. Boss will intervene before you get that bad.(thank goodness!) This is a great game, and the company even offers free downloads for new cases. You examine the patient, give x-rays and lab tests when needed, answer a few questions about the patient, choose a treatment method, and even treat the patient. This game is great!

First of all, let me say that this is great in concept but no amount of electrical shock will save this puppy. The program itself is extremely frustrating to navigate through. The animation is truly amatuerish. Only the patients mouths move and the movement is grotesque in relation to the head. Even Taco Bell got it better with the dog. I especially liked the father with the kid on his lap. His mouth literally went up to his eyes. There are no navigation instructions, no read me file, no tutorial, and the program does not even support 32-bit color. You have to change (lower) your monitor settings to play it. A decent help file would greatly improve it. So unless you like hacking through a program to figure out how it works, stay away until Legacy Interactive learns that not all users think like their programmers.

Maybe a little too easy...

I thought this game was a lot of fun. In other words, I got completely addicted to it. However, I made Chief of Staff and treated all 100 patients in less than a week. Once you get to the top, the challenge is gone and it's not much fun anymore.

Can only be played,if you are a real life doctor.

When i bought this game i was excited to get it. The back of the CD made it look like it would be fun. But i was wrong. I like the way you could use all the things and even go to the food machine and get snacks. But the game play was terrible. Their was not any real good help hints to help you out ,it was hard to know what to do next and when you did fine out where to go the patiant would already be dead (i mean not everyone is going to know what to do when they first play this game) so they should have had more helpful hints. They did have a place where you could go and find out what it was your patiant had and what you could do for it.But you could not understand it one bit... unless you had a Med book to look up what they were talking about. They need to keep in mind that this is just a game, not the real thing, and that not everyone is going to take 8 years of Med school just so they can play it. Not worth the buy. save your money for a better game!

Why do people seem to have such a hard time playing this !

I must say I am perplexed by people having such a hard time playing this game.I have bought this game and the first one.I found them both quite easy.In fact the only 2 problems I ahve with this game is one it's to easy I made chief of staff and did all 100 cases in 2 weeks and second in the first Er game u actually had to stitch the person and put the needle in there arm.In this second one all u have to do is place the needle or sewing thread over the body part.I much preffered doing it myself. But all in all i do enjoy the game and look forward to getting the new ones

Very mixed feelings

I bought "Emergency Room 2" to improve on my medical knowledge and came away with mixed feelings about this game. It does have a wide variety of medical knowledge contained within, ranging from a medical glossary on your "Palm Pilot" in the game to specific details about where and when to use a certain instrument. Therefore, I can't complain too much about my objective to increase my medical knowledge. I can say that the gameplay was average. There is a huge learning curve when you start out playing the game. It isn't clear how to move from one step to the next (ie - interact w/ patient, then bring them in to diagnose) and there aren't any gameplay instructions that come with the game. The patient cases are relatively interesting, anything ranging from a simple "I stepped on something" up to a gunshot wound. Some patients turn out to be plain boring. Others are very interesting and require detailed work, including complete diagnosis, imaging, treatment and "doctor's orders". However, the most important advice I can give regarding this game is that I can forsee most people getting tired and bored with the game very quickly. I believe this would happen by nature because as soon as your are done with one patient, it's back to the waiting room to start the entire process all over again. I gets monotonous. This is why I bring it down to three stars. I played mine for a solid five or six hours one weekend but doubt I'll ever pick it up again; I'll probably default to another game.

Horrible Game

Don't ever buy this game! If you ever want to buy an Emergency Room game, the best one is ER- When Disaster Strikes. Better graphics, and you can actually perform the procedures rather than watch.

Fun and educational too

I think this was a great game. You're a doctor in the e.r. trying to cure your patients of anything from small cuts and abrasions to gun shot wounds to the head. Anyone looking for a challanging yet fun game that teaches you alot too must get this game. And for only $... it's a bargain.

This is not for people without patience or willingness to learn. This game is very good at producing the environment and pressures that REAL doctors face. I think it's very educational for kids and teens. If you like to always win, or want action, this is not for you! Helps teach basics of typical treatment and has a cool replication of the Hospital scene (and staff!). Great for those who like Reality Software. For real doctors, this stuff is way too basic. For non-doctors, it may be too hard at first, but game provides the text and school (that you can jump to) to learn what you need to provide the best care! Good Luck!!
