This game is not worth the price

I got this game and it only has two new teams and when you start the game all of your old levels you have beat are gone. You have to beat them all over again. But your scerinos are still there which is good. But they have many new upgrades but there all a waste of time. When you buy the original game you get 6 teams for 40 bucks and you get the new game for 30 bucks and there are only two teams. And there are teams they could make on this game that they didnt such as ewoks, jawas, and tuskin raiders. If I were you i would save my money and buy a better star wars game.

Expensive Patch

After thoroughly enjoying SWGB, I must say that I am sorely disappointed with the expansion. The bulk of the changes are balance issues, things that other publishers (e.g. Blizzard) provide with a free patch.
The missions are disappointing as well. Three of the missions are introductory and basic, which makes them seem pointless after completing the forty-odd missions from base game. Almost all of the missions are linear, eliminating the need for any kind of tactical thinking. Also, the cartoonish depiction of the hero in the Republic battles gave me the impression that this was a hasty project for the developers.
The new units were intriguing and fun. The emphasis on Jedi forced me to use a component of the game that I hadn't played much previously. I honestly didn't notice much change in the environments, though--they just seemed to be slight variations of those from the base module except for one (Sarapin). And I definitely didn't feel that the soundtrack was changed in any way.
While not without some worthwhile qualities, Clone Campaigns is just too expensive for what it delivers. Perhaps for multi-player this is a must have, but for single players it just is not worth the price.

ill admit, im a bit of a starwars fan. I thought this game was going to be great, i had always dreamed of a star wars game that was like age of empires. And this one even uses the same game engine!!!but after playing it for about a week, it starts to get bad. The replayibility is horrible, and if you own age of empires (age of kings) you will notice that the art in star wars galactic batlegrounds apears hurried and low quality compared to age of empires age of kings. Also, it apears that the game wasent adapted for a futuristic game, it seem exsiting the first time you set a bomber on a building, just as its about to make its expected run though, it stops in mid air and procedes to drop uninspired balls of greenstuff on the target.
all in all this game seems slaped together and poor use has been made of the tried and true AoE game engine, i dont recomend this game to anyone but the most avid star wars fans.

getting back to the good ol' days

lately there has been a boost of Star Wars ground battles. and i don't have anything wrong with that. however, i love flight sims; and the X-Wing series was absolutely brilliant. with the new movies i think we have lost focus of the thrill of flying the Mellinium Falcon into the Death Star. and flying an X-Wing, trying to outfly the enemy TIE fighter. the last installment of the X-Wing series, X-Wing Alliance, introduced players to an incredible story line. yet it still had its quirks. but what game doesn't. i think there needs to be more space action in the future.

While Galactic Battlegrounds gets on the right RTS road, it doesn't go the distance. In a nutshell, it feels like an AoE mod more than a stand-alone game. A few improvements to the unit AI and some tweaking of structural hit points and we just might have a solid Star Wars RTS on our hands.

I'm content with this expansion pack. The republic are a fun civilization to play especially with the tech 4 upgrades. They added some great new upgrades and research for exisiting armies including power droids. The new Fortress armies caught me off guard at first because of thier sheer destructive power, but i got use to them. Enough bang for the buck to get me back into playing the game and having fun doing it. The new Star Wars locales are fun to play and entertain. After reading the instruction manual for the game and reading what's been added and changed, it made the game a lot more fun. It's a good expansion for your bucks, if your a fan of Episode 2 as well as the original Galactic Battlegrounds. Just the fact that AT-AT's can now fire at air targets as well as ground targets make it almost worth it alone. Hope to see another expansion with a lot more civilizations. Maybe for Episode 3 ??? Like Starcraft - Brood War i have yet to go back to playing the original game, this is much more fun.

Keeping the fun going.

I thought that this was a pretty cool expansion pack for an already cool game. You get 2 more campaigns covering 14 total missions. With more units, buildings, and upgrades available, this game is getting better and better. A few of the campaigns are pretty tough, especially getting started which makes for some pretty long battles. The only real bad thing about this game and the expansion is how weak the air units are. If you have a couple of anit air turretts built, you can take out 8 or 10 air units pretty easy without losing a turrett. And for the expense of building air units, it just isn't worth it. Other than that, this is a very solid game with good graphics and some pretty awesome battles. I recommend this all RTS fans. To me, this is the best computer game based on Star Wars.

Although Age of Empires is not the greatest game in my opinion, StarWars Galactic Battle Grounds is close. Coming in third after Final Fantasy and Starcraft of course. You build lots of buildings and lots of troops in a mix of Starcraft and Age of Empires. 80% Age of Empires. This exansion pack just adds on some great new stuff to play with. Re kindling my passion for the game.

This game is so much better then AOE,I love it ,I play it all Friday night and Saturday, but my computer recently broke!Super Crude...The one major flaw is the enemy air craft can fly over your walls, SO WHY BUILD THEM[.]??? The best thing is the new "monks" are JEDI KNIGHTS!AWESOME!The Jedi can attack, convert, and carry "relics", now Jedi Holograms! The game is SWEET!I so love it, my mom has to tell me twice to get off of it! HA!HA!This is The best(personly)game Lucasfilm Entertainment has ever made! Dude! It just blows me out! MAN! The civlitains are pretty cool, with the Rebs being the(again, personly)best of the bunch. The Republic has the best Jedi Knights, they even have
Jedi Masters!(Although the Jedi Masters cost twice more then the Jedi Kinghts.)(The Jedi Kinghts cost 225 Nova crystals, or 225 "Gold" in AOE)The Jedi Masters so rock! I like to type in "forcenova" 10 times and make like 10 Jedi Masters, then go and kick bigtime...... Get this game while it's hot! Hurry! It is totally awesome! One Good thing in it is that in AOEII you can queue your farms to replant by themselves, well you could only queue like 20 farms at a time, well, SWCC()Star Wars Clone Campaigns)let's you queue like 30 or more! I love that! The Gungans are cool because they can build "houses"(now called "Prefab Shelters")under water! Or, in lakes! The Royal Naboo is okay but their air so kicks..... The Galactic Empire's "seige workshop" units So(again)kicks.... The Wookies Troopers so(and again)kick Bigtime.... The Reb's "workers"(now droids except for The Condfedrcy)are better at farming then the others. The Trade Fedration are like the Huns in AOEII, they don't need houses! Oh yeah! The Confedrcy(run by Count Dooko)is kinda like the middle guys, they don't really have any unique power. The Republic also have Clone Troopers! They so Rock! Get this game now! What are you waiting for!!?? Get this game!
