Okeyday, this was about the most awesome Star Wars game I have ever played!! The graphics aren't cutting-edge, but they get the job done. It is sooooooooooo awesome to build your own Gungan Grand Army, filled with kaadu, faambas with sheild generators, Leeru mech destroyers, Gungan repeator troopers, and dino-like gungan fighter ships. Also, the Gungan submersible frigates are awesome. The campaigns are cool too. it is soooo fun to head your gungans ( with Boss Gallo and Captain Marsune, ) against the evil Boss Rogoe. My only complaint is that the skill level I'm at is too hard, and the one below it is way too easy. The gungans are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE civilization to be. Also, the Empire gets At-At's, the Rebels get X-wings, all that fun stuff. If it gets really too hard, you can use cheats to get Death Stars, Star Destroyers, and.... Simon the killer almost invincible Ewok!!!! Go buy this game!!!!!
Campaigns Good, Battles Bad

If you played age of empires (age of kings) then you will pick this game up quickly, but it is how you play the game that will determine if you will like this or not.
If you like to play campaigns then this is a pretty good game and you will probably recommend it. If you like death matches and battles then this is a "nurfed up" disappointment.
For campaigners this is exactly what you want, age of empires in star wars land.
If you are like me and after you get done with campaigns you want to set up big battles and fight to the death then this is an aweful down grade from age of empires. When I say that it is "nurfed up", what I mean is that different game elements have been altered to supposedly make them better, but ultimately they make for lesser game play. For example: It always seemed unreal that a few guys with swords could take out a building so easily in Age of Empires. Galactic Battle ground went way to far the other way. You will pound on buildings with artillary and bombers forever to get a building to fall (Its like you're firing nurf balls). This draws out battles and makes death matches BORING.

This game is sweet!! It's just like AOE, but not different because of the Star Wars twist. I am also glad I waited to buy it, since at wal-mart I got it for $9.85. Even the voices in this game sound just like they should.
puny humans you dont deserve to touch it!but buy it anyways!

Ok. This is a GOOD game, but not a great one. If you like Star Wars just for being star wars, it may be a great game. Think AOE II. Its the SAME THING except with different units and graphics for each nation, as well as having air (which is nice having another dimension to the game, but very fake).
Every unit has an equivalent. Monks=Jedi (Jedi fight too). Pummels=rams. You get the idea.
The graphics are quite blocky and very sad compared to the games coming out now.
There is more stuff than AOE. There are more special animals and natual stuff for your scenarios to replicate all the different star wars worlds. The campains are plentiful and fun.
Pros:
Fun
Star Wars
Gameplay isn't bad
Makes a good gift
Multiplayer
Cons:
-Sad graphics for the 21st century
-It looks like they just grabbed the program code from AOE and changed some of the images
-Lots of units are very fake. Some aren't animated (Like the Rebel Assault Mech), and others move faster than the animation, making it look like they are being blown along
-The game did a terrible job of trying to design units that weren't in the movie. Since the Wookie Civilization needs aircraft and all sorts of units, the game made up some really ugly stuff for them
-THERE ARE BETTER GAMES OUT THERE......If you have to have a star wars look, get this game. If you don't care, get another newer one. I'd suggest an excellent game called Rise of Nations...........

Star Wars Battlegrounds has been the best game I have ever played on the computer. I have completed the whole game winning every campaign and map. I think the campaings are the best of the whole package. Being the gungans, rebels, empire, and all the others is awsome. When you get to play luke, leia, bass nass, darth maul, droid troops, and I think the best of all is the Geonosians. To use the animals from the arena of star wars attack of the clones is awsome. If you're thinking of buying this game do it. You won't regret paying for it. You'll play it all day long. I did and it is great. Especially for your children.

I actually owned a copy of this from long ago, and just bought it again for my god-child, who is a big star wars buff.
Its a classic RT lead your army strategy game, in the vain of Warcraft and myth and all those before it. IT has missions and goals, and frankly, I think it is actually more approachable then the newer RT's out there.
AND the bonus pack makes it all that much more fun. THere are also a ton of MOD out on the web. Go have fun with it, you cant beat this price.
