OK, I admit it. I've been addicted to brick breaking games since the '80's. "Blast Thru" was my favorite, until I discovered "Bricks of Egypt" on Amazon (my favorite shopping place). This is a great game. I like the Egyptian theme with its air of mystery and intrigue. You have a sense of exploring and unlocking the secrets of an ancient civilization. It's the Indiana Jones of brick breaking games. There are a variety of novel power ups, traps, and treasures. It even talks to you! It has multiple levels and difficulties. Good game for improving your hand eye coordination. If you like brick breaking games, this is one for your collection. Hours of unending fun!!!

I admit it...I'm a sucker for affordable PC games like Bricks of Egypt.
I have Blaster Ball 1, Blaster Ball Remix, and Blaster Ball Holidays from Wild Games. I've also played Blaster Ball 3. After awhile, though, those games get boring.
When I saw Bricks of Egypt, which is similiar to the Blaster Ball games, I was thrilled! There are quite a few types of bricks and other goodies tucked in every level. And, when the ball hits the various bricks, the sounds vary. For example, a large brick may take 3-4 hits before it disintegrates. An Egyptian tablet sounds a bit like broken glass when hit. There are smaller bricks which are taken out with one shot, as well as square grid-like blocks filled with buckshot-like balls.
Plus, there are cool things tucked among the brick walls. For example, if you "free" up a gem or trinket, you get extra points if you catch it. When there are "fire" bricks, hitting a water symbol will spray water from above to extinguish some of the flaming bricks. (You don't want to let the fire bricks hit the bottom! Otherwise, you lose a life.)
Like Blaster Ball, there are extras that may rain upon you: you can grow bigger (but unlike Blaster Ball, you get enlage more than once!), smaller, becoming "sticky", and get lasers to shoot the bricks. But watch out...because there are skull and crossbones (which will kill you if you "catch" it), minimizers, and floating "eyes".
These eyes can work to your advantage, because they serve as a pinball-like effect--where the ball bounces off of them and throughout the other areas. *However*, if the bricks happen to start low, too many eyes cause the ball to bounce right back to you--which could cause you to lose a life if you don't catch the ball in time.
There are also bombs among the bricks; by detonating them, you detonate a whole area of wall. A very cool element is the key squares. Some levels have "metal" decorative blocks that can NOT be penetrated. However, if your ball hits one of the keys at top, the blocks disappear! You can get a lot done when those metal blocks disappear, but you may forget that your ball will now glide through the board unimpeded!
If you enjoy games like Blaster Ball, you will LOVE Bricks of Egypt. The first menu provides four separate levels (1-8). You can go onto the next level when you complete all 8 boards BUT the next level has 16 boards! (Needless to say, I haven't made it past the first four boards yet!)
Well worth the affordable price--and much more fun than Blaster Ball!

Great game with super fire chasing ball action although smashing the fire spreading bricks are rough on your index finger.

I tried games prior to this purchase and figured for the price I would purchase this here as it was so much cheaper - anyways, the graphics, game etc., is boring! Bricks of Atlantis is so much more fun and the graphics are way better (water) - if I would have it my way I would never have purchased this Bricks of Egypt game...even my 6 year old says it is boring.

Great fun game to waste your time, which is why most people buy these type of games. the bad part about this game is that it isn't very long, i beat the whole game in about 2 days. it is very fun and the power-ups you get can make things very interesting. all in all, i would recomend it to anyone that likes this style of game.
5 stars for fun, 1 star for Windows Vista compatibility

Buyer beware if you have Windows Vista as your operating system. This is advertised as Vista-compatible on Amazon, but the game is clearly marked as copyright 2004, only compatible through WinXP. Yes it is a lot of fun, my 5 year old son in particular is addicted to it. But it freezes up sometimes and I must CNTL-ALT-DEL to get it shut down and get my PC working again. I'd say it freezes 75-80% of the time when trying to exit the program after playing. Fortunately it is rare that it freezes during the game. That said, it is a lot of fun, and I would definitely recommend it if you are running WinXP or earlier.

I did not like this game that much. It's somewhat boring. Does not teach anything. I prefer the Seven Wonders of the World where one can also learn about these wonders.
