Okay, I bought this thing at Gamestop for $4... I love Tails, so I thought I was getting a good deal. So I install and everything and try to get it to run with my Lik-Sang adapter, set up all the buttons the way I want, and I try playing... and the stupid camera WON'T stop panning in circles. This is the most anoying thing in the world, how are ya sposed to jump platforms with a constantly spinning camera angle? Maybe I should just break down and actually get a Gamecube to play the game... >_<
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is great. It does not come with instructions, but the tutorial on it explains everything. This game features 4 playable teams.Team Sonic,Team Dark (which includes shadow the hedgehog),Team Rose, and Team Chaotix. The controls are way easy and everything in the game is enjoyable. You are able to Effortlessly switch between allies to fight evil, sole puzzles, and explore huge environments. There are 14 stages with unique paths and adventures for each team. There is also multipayer battles let you compete in an assortment of mini-games.Trust me this is one of the best games of all time.So why go for anything else beside a miracle game like this?

This is a really fun game, but after only 6 weeks, it already has a technical problem that makes it unplayable. Sega support was courteous but unhelpful--they eventually just referred us to the warranty.
Conceptual good idea!

I am a loyal Sonic Fans since I was in the primary school. I love Sonic games because I really enjoy the high speed by using Sonic. In Sonic games, Sonic is the fastest thing alive and the main star of most of the stories. To be more creative, Sega add up some new elements to this brand new Sonic game, Sonic Heroes. For example, Teamwork is conceptually good idea. It may makes the player enjoy three types of character, i.e. speed, flight and power. However, I have beaten Sonic Heroes with all four teams and metal Sonic. I feel a bit dissapointed compare to Sonic Adventure DX. To add up the replay value, Sega make us to try all four team in same action stages in order to view the true ending. In Sonic DX, every character has different abilities and storyline. However, in Sonic Heroes, the abilities of four teams more or less are same, i.e. speed, flight and power. It just like I have played the same game four times. The only different may be the difficulty. Team Dark is the most difficult, Team Sonic difficulty is standard. Team Rose is the easiest, so less interesting, but it is good to collect Chaos Emerald. The storyline is too short. I rate it three stars because it bring me excitement before. However, it is not the best. Personally, if you are a Sonic Fan, you want to try something new, then buy it. Or else, just stay away. The new element, team effort, makes Sonic become less interesting. His special moves, such as homing attack, can be done by another three teams. That means Sonic Heroes make me feel dissapoint because Sonic is not unique anymore. Since, Sonic Adventure 2 or Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic ability can be challenged by a hedgehog called Shadow. In this new game, the speed is not Sonic's patent anymore. As a Sonic Fans, I feel much dissapointed.

While I like the idea of everyone traveling together, it really seems like they don't. I noticed that, unless you're in the "fly" formation or you're standing still, the characters seem to run all over instead of acting like one character. I mean, you should consider the fact that, you're supposed to be controlling a team of 3, but it seems to me that your actually controlling a leader and 2 computer controlled characters behind you. The ability to switch between characters with the press of a button is the only thing that keeps the team linked. It shouldn't be that way. SONIC TEAM and SEGA know how to make and publish these games. However, why don't they just use their skill and fix it. I mean, a lot of the flaws with Sonic Heroes (particularly on the PlayStation 2) all could have been fixed with some extra months of fine tuning.
So, as you can see, Sonic Heroes isn't the best game ever. It really needs a lot of work. Just like I'll admit Crash Twinsanity (Crash Bandicoot is my favorite) needs a lot of extra fine tuning, too. (SEE MY REVIEW ON CRASH TWINSANITY FOR MORE DETAILS).

From Sega comes one of our favorite old school mascot platformers--Sonic. But in Sonic Heroes this time around. Much maligned for twitchy controls, and spastic camera on the PC (but you can say that for allot of PC ports), I actually thought that while both could have stood refinement, I felt the complaints of these found in other user reviews was pretty overstated. The camera did become a problem in a handful of instances, but you can pan it around, or zoom in and out, so that makes up for it somewhat.
In Sonic Heroes, you choose from one of four three character teams (though you must complete the game with all 4 teams for total game completion). The general idea is that regardless of which team you play, all team members have more or less the same ability. In each team consisting of 3 members, one character focuses on speed, one on power, and one on flying.
For my money ($15.00) this isn't a terrible game. The graphics look pretty good, and the game supports fairly high resolution for all you with fast video cards. The game engine is packed with all sorts of high tech doo-dads like colored lighting, some pretty nice fog and particle effects, antisotropic filtering, and anti-aliasing. The levels seem imaginitive colorful, and well thought out and designed with a pretty decent diversity of environments. The game supports rumblepads, and doesn't force you to switch between using your gamepad, and keyboard/mouse at the menus (a biggie for me since I play the game on my TV using a gamepad)--all game commands are accessible from, or can be mapped to your gamepad if you intend to use one. Having not played the game on other platforms,I think this is probably important to having a good experience with the game, because I noticed many of the complaints regarding controls other users lodged against this game centered primarily on the absence of analog control because they (obviously) weren't playing with gamepads. I can't speak for keyboard and mouse controls as I never got used to using them in console ports, and stopped trying a long time ago. I play the game using a dual analog gamepad (Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power 2), and felt that the controls are probably comparable to what you're going to get on the console versions.
The game doesn't offer any expanded/bonus content, etc for PC players, and that's a ding as this sort of thing is generally fairly common in console ports. The production values are down in the dirt too as you get no jewel case, manual, or even a box with a fold out cover, or any type of embossing/debossing--far from being a full blown effort complete with advertising campaign, it was a fairly flippant effort designed purely for making a few quick bucks. However, that still doesn't mean it's not a decent game--I'm having a good time with it, and don't anticipate selling/trading it anytime soon. I'm going to ding it a little for the low production values (hence the 3 star overall rating), but especially as a value title, I'd have to say it's worth your bargain bin pocket change to pick up if you just can't get enough of Sonic.
Simply.....

This is by far the best sonic 3d game I've played. It is the closest you will get to the golden games of sonic in the genesis. It is fast, some stages like casinopolis are back, the special stage is just like that great sonic 2 stage, and last but not least charachters go back to their original, great roots. Sonic speed, Tails flying does make a difference in this game, and Knuckes, though it can not climb, it is quite usefull for uncovering the different routes, just like in the genesis.
The other teams are just the same, given changes in the degree of difficulty, but in reality the only difficulty you will find in this game... is the lack for a proper Console to PC transfer.
Withouth the analog control, it is sometimes very difficult to manouver arround stages, and you will fall quite a lot.
Also, PC graphics and performance can easily surpassed those in the consoles ... ok grated you have a good gaming desktop... and sega didn't took advantage of this. The only addon I have discovered so far for the PC, are a bunch of wallpapers, really nice by the way, and some mouse pointers, that is all.
If you have a console and an extra $20, probably get the console
But if like me, you give up on console when the DC died. Get this sonic game. It is fun, a different yet familiar gameplay, that will give you some old school Sonic fun. Given the controll issues I'm not giving it a 5.
