the best computer game yet

Backyrd hockey is my favorite game every day I go to my computer to play this game at first it is hard but once you get used to it i'll be fun but a little easy it's rrrrooooccccckkkkkksssssssss

Backyard Baseball 2003 is great. It has 4 brand spanking new fields and a lot of new players such as Carlos Delgado of the Toronto Blue Jays and the last year's mvp award winner Ichiro of the Mariners. This game also has some returning players such as Sammy Sosa of the Chicago Cubs and Jason Giambi of the Yanks. Humongous Entertainment has outdone themselves with Backyard Baseball 2003. They made the best backyard game ever!

A little disapointing, but still good

I was really excited about this game. The last 2 installments of the Backyard Sports series where good. This one is also. It has new players like Seattle's Iciro and Colorado's Todd Helton. My beloved Twins finally have a good representative in Brad Radke. There's alos Backyard "veterans" (as I call them) like Sammy Sosa of the Cubs, Nomar Garciapara of Boston, and Chipper Jones of Atlanta. Chipper FINALLY goes Lefty when he bats against a right-handed pitcher, unlike 2001. A-Rod and Giambi represnt they're new teams. In the other reviews, people say they are disapointed in the lack of Cal Ripken, Mark McGuire, and Tony Gywen. Maybe it's because their RETIRED. I, on the other hand, miss Kurt Schilling and Pudge. I was very surprised they were left out. Well, at least Schilling should have been in this game. And why is Carlos Beltran the only Royal instead of Mike Sweeney. I still don't get that.
There are big changes between the 2 games. The format is unchanged, but there are new voices for all the players, I think. Some sound a lot like the older versions, but some are really different. Like Sunny Day. I can't tell her voice apart from Vinnie the Gooch. They took out the online play, too. I think Humongus or Infogrames trashed that feature. It's also a little slow on my PC. It still good though. For being a good game at a [good] price, I give it 5 stars.

Probably four-and-a-half but the best you could get.

Probably the best of all the Backyard games. Cool pro players. All the kids have sort of aged a little. What's Next? Backyard Tennis? Backyard Volleyball? Backyard Skateboarding? We may never know.

I'M 6 YEARS OLD AND I LOVE BACKYARD BASEBALL BECAUSE IT HAS ALL MY FAVORITE PLAYERS AND I CAN MAKE UP MY OWN TEAMS TOO.
THE 2003 VERSION HAS A NEW DESERT BASEBALL FIELD AND EVEN HAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLAYERS -ICHIRO! I PLAY IT SOMETIMES FOR HOURS NON-STOP. IT'S VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND PLAY. THE PICTURES ARE GREAT! AND IT'S EASY TO TEACH MY FRIENDS/RELATIVES HOW TO PLAY IT TOO! I PRINT MY TEAM PHOTO FOR EACH GAME PLAYED AND THEN I WRITE THE TEAM NAMES AND FINAL SCORE ON THE SHEET AND KEEP THEM IN A BINDER I MADE ESPECIALLY FOR MY SCORESHEETS. IT'S A GREAT GAME FOR 5 YRS OLD AND UP - EVEN MY GRANDPA PLAYS IT!

This is the best Hockey game ever made. You can pick from different rinks, you can make your own players. I wish I had a CD of the music from this game - cuz it rules. Also I like the extra air hockey mul-t-puk game just look under practise.

So cute and fun!!

I don't personally own this, but it's at my cousins' house. Everytime I go over there now I feel bad because I'm playing this game as if I were my seven year old cousin. I'm a 17 year old girl! This is definitely the best of the Backyard Sports games that I have played, and I think I've played them all except Backyard Hockey.
Pros: Cute as a button in general!, different pitches with different animations, you can pick real players as kids to be on your team, each player has different strengths and weaknesses, create your own player option, you can choose who plays what position, you create your own team and it's name, colors, and mascot
Cons: Very few. Not enough to deduct a star from the rating. The only thing that frustrates me is that they run so darn slow, lol.
Overall, a great game, no matter what your age.

Finally, a PC baseball game I am actually able to play!

Hi there! I'm Frank, fillin' in for Zaggy while he goes to see a 'real sport' down at the tank while I lay down to you my review of the Backyard Baseball 2003 PC game! After finding the Hardball and Triple Play games a bit too tough for me to get the hang of'if I manage to allow less than 20 runs in either, it's a small miracle--, I was desperate to try something that wasn't too complicated, and would actually give me a chance to win a contest from time to time. That's when I stumbled upon Backyard Baseball 2003, which is probably the easiest-to-play baseball simulator out there! After Zaggy helped install it on the store computer, I put my team together, composed of a selection of characters from the backyard sports titles that Infogrames puts out, a couple kid versions of various MLB stars from every team, and one that I made up myself! I named the custom player Zaggy, in honor of the guy who lets me write a review to put on his page every once in a while. Ain't he just the greatest? And I even named my team after one of his nicknames for me: the Humongous Melonheads!

After settin' up my team, it's on to the Season Play setup. I started out with the Easy mode, and turned on the pitch locator & swing spot so I can actually see where the ball's gonna be when it reaches the plate. I also turned off the errors. Speakin' of which, Zaggy once told me that my very existence is one of the most horrific errors that nature ever committed (whatever that means). Then I choose my team's home field, Steele Stadium (actually, the back yard of one of the BYB young'ins). This particular venue features a shallow center field that my two power-hitters-- l'il Barry Bonds and the even littler Pablo Sanchez' take advantage of on a regular basis. Finally, I select the six-inning game mode and save my settings. Then it's on to options, where I turn off the play-by-play and color commentary, the game music, and the player chatter. Nope, no distractions for me!

Finally, before I go into the first game, I set up my batting lineup as well as the positions my players will play. I usually use the faster kids for the outfield, and unless she's havin' an off day, Luanne Lui is always my startin' pitcher. Now, judgin' from what I said in the previous sentence, yer prob'ly wonderin' how I'd know if any of my players are havin' an off day. Well, I'll tell you how: when you select the 'My Roster' tab on the pre-game setup, just put your pointer-thingy on each player, and his or her performance meter will show up on the bottom (shows the player's Batting, Running, Pitching, and Fielding abilities). If any of the meters are below the player's usual performance abilities, that player's havin' an 'off' day. Fortunately, there are those times when the exact opposite happens, and the player's meter readin's are higher than usual. In other words, that player is 'en fuego'!

Anyway, the game play is pretty fun, what with alla' the silly power hits (earned with double-plays on defense) and juiced-up pitches (earned with strikeouts) and stuff that help give me a fightin' chance! I've even managed to win several games, and have been maintainin' the top spot in the wild-card race going into the final stretch of the season. A season that lasts only 14 games, and doesn't even have an All-Star game to determine which league gets home-field advantage in the backyard fall classic! Who knows, I might actually grab a playoff spot, and maybe even 'go.. all... the... way', as Chris Berman would say! Wish me luck...

I have seen and played many demos and have read tons of reviews on this product.

I have been a fan of this Junior Sports series since the very first original Backyard Baseball came out. I own 2 of the 3 baseball editions, both of the football versions, my brothers have both of the soccer editions, and we also have Backyard Basketball.

From what I've seen and read this is another great additon to any of your collections of these games. The gameplay is smooth, the graphics are stunning, there are EVEN MORE gamplay options than in BYB 2001, the MLB kids faces are very believable, the players ability to play is slightly exaggerated but hey, that's what makes it so fun.

Being a big fan and player of baseball I follow the majors like nothing else. For that reason I noticed the ratings (Running, Pitching, Fielding, and Hitting) on the players to be slightly off. But if that's the only problem, that's an extremely small sacrifice to make when buying this game.

This game is worth every penny you spend on it. I recommend this game for fans and non-fans of all ages.

The levels of difficulty are set very well for people that play it. I do wish though that they would add an extra "Major League" level of play for us older guys that are looking for some challenging opponents.

I haven't tried online play yet but I'm sure you would find some more challenging people to play against.

This series is getting better with every game and should soon become one of the top sports games on the market. I hope that soon they will expand their games and come out with Backyard Baseball Pennent Race Edition Expansion Pack that will include the new hot rookies in the majors. Who knows? Maybe it's not that far off from now.

In closing I want you to know that this game does not have the new backyard kid design. The new Backyard Hockey has new kids to chose from and absolutely stunning visual effects. I recommend that game also for the Backyard Series fans.

Oh yeah, one more thing, HAVE FUN!!!

Good, But Not Great

This is a good game, but I have a few reccomendations and I have found a few flaws. Here is a list of them.

Mr.Clanky - It is cool that you unlock him after you win the backyard world series but you can`t put him on your normal team, in fact you can only use him in a single game!

players - they are basicly good but their skill ratings are a little off on a few of them, for instance a person who the game says is great at batting, like Barry Bonds can really be pretty bad at it.

trading - I haven`t gotten far but I am pretty confident that there is not and will not be a trading option, and i think that it would be cool if you could trade with other players or the computer.

skills - It would be nice if your players skill ratings increased with the experience they get from games.

graphics - The graphics are ok but not anything special.

I think this is a good game and that is why I gave it four stars, so I can`t wait to get the upcoming versions.
