Surfing rocks, this game blows toads

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 3 / 4

Surfing in this game is fun and quasi-realistic...except for having to rescue dolphins, scare birds, and fight off sharks every five minutes. Which all surfers do on a regular basis, right? This game blows toads. Imagine a football game where in addition to actually playing the game, you had to micromanage the popcorn sales so you could afford new helmets.
Also, there's only one beach! At least until you score enough dolphin saves, bird scares, shark beatings in the career mode. JUST LET ME SURF FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Did these guys even PLAY this monstrosity before putting it on the shelves??? If they're not all on welfare after putting this out (they should be), I hope they do a new version where YOU ONLY HAVE TO SURF!

addictive game play and spiffy graphics in an unfamiliar gaming environment give this game a pretty good replay value. lazy programming ( i.e.-the usual repetitive voice overs, glitchy game play and slightly awkward menu interface when your not on a wave) leaves it just short of a must have launch title. the split screen mode is not playable due to poor programming - it should be your fourth or fifth X-Box title. transworld surf 2 should prove to be a worthwhile adventure.

Gamers, yes, surfers, no

The games ok, but if you're going to spend your money on a surfing game you might as well buy the better one. Ditch this game and get Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer, it's way better, you'll thank me later. The surfing physics are off on Transworld, but it does have good graphics so a gamer would probably enjoy this game but not someone who surfs. In Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer you don't have to rescue dolphins either, all you do is surf.

Should be another hit with skateboarder types. Average at best graphics and some decent tunes on it, but not much else going for it. No plot or story line.

best surfing game ever made

This game would get 5 stars, but the objectives (free the dolphins from the tuna nets, scare the birds away, (...)) you must fulfill in order to continue unlocking new breaks are time consuming, boring, and just plain lame. Other than that, the game play rocks. One longboard for some walking the nose would have been sweet, as well as more surfability on or near the lip (which is probably the most dynamic part of a wave) would have been great, too. As is, get too close to the lip and you "wipeout". The controls are great, and the physics are excellent. the best video game wave ever. EVER! A cheat code to unlock all the breaks would be cool. I find I just like "surfing", and I could take or leave the pro tour mode. Overall, I've been hooked on this game, and can't put it down. Good soundtrack with some progressive music. Steep learning curve; get your combos down if you want to score any points... (...)

This is a pretty good game with only a few flaws. I would recomend it. It is fun, challenging, but not way to hard. The only bad thing is the annoying sound.

A Pleasant Surprise

To say I was skeptical about spending $... on a surfing game would be the understatement of the year. However, the good buzz around the game gave me the confidence I needed to give it a try and I am happy that I did so. Transworld Surf is not an easy game to pick up in the first couple of hours, but enough patience and effort will pay off in a rewarding game experience. Some of the goals connected to the Career Mode could have been left out, yet it does add another dimension to the overall gameplay and helps you practice certain tricks/moves. The graphics are exceptional and the difficulty of progressing in Career Mode is a welcomed challenge. The multiplayer games are also fun, except for the tricky King of the Wave. Forget about the snowboarding and skateboarding games, this is the one you need if you want to have a so-called "extreme" sports game. I rated it 4 stars, but my actual rating- if possible- would be 4 1/2 stars. It is that good and it is that fun.

If you've ever surfed, or ever dreamed of surfing, get it.

If you surf, or would like to know what it's like, this is your game. The graphics are intense. Each character even has the exact look and personal style of the real-life surfer after which it was modeled. Each spot in the game is soooo true to life. I've had the great fortune of traveling to some of the spots in this game and from the landscapes to the way the individual waves break, this game nails it! You will actually duck down and to the left when your surfer pulls in at Pipe, Teauphoo, or G-land! Plus, you can push maneuvers that you probably wouldn't try at some florida beach break much less these heavy-hitting marquis spots -- darkslides at Cloudbreak?? Superman airs at Todos?? Stale 540's at Pipe??

If your idea of fun is collecting glowing orbs on screen or shooting things full of holes, go ahead, get one of the 1000 other titles out there. As for me, I haven't really been interested in most of the games out there in the past -- even hawk -- but, I am actually getting the xbox because this game For the first time, a surfing game gets it right.

Go surfing in your living room.
