If you are a F1 fan this is the game for you. I have played many racing games in my time and this is by far the best one out there.

Pretty nice game, but i think the crashes could be more realistic.

I thought this game would be great, ...Graphics are solid, but the cars are nearly impossible to steer. This is a repackaged "Pole Position" for the 2000's. If you hit another open-wheeled car at 190 mph, it should go flying off the track into thousands of pieces. It doesn't.

The only Formula One game that you'll find for Xbox

I was recently upset when I heard the news that Sony bought exclusive rights to making games for their Playstation consoles. That means that if you love F1 and own an Xbox like me then you're screwed for years to come. But there's some good news. In 2001 EA Sports made an F1 game for the Xbox and it looks like it will probably be their last. If you want an F1 game for The Xbox then get this soon because it's getting harder and harder to get.

As for the game itself I must say that I was very very satisfied. In fact I was impressed. Even though the game is almost 3 years old the graphics are very nice. The physics and handling of the cars are very realistic. Just like a real F1 car the cars in the game are very twitchy and nimble unlike those 3,500lb tanks in NASCAR Thunder. I like how you can select between normal and simulation handling mode. In normal handling the car is very easy to drive which means you don't deal with understeer or oversteer in the corners and you don't deal with wheelspin. Turn on simulation mode and it's a different story. The car's physics and handling in simulation mode become very realistic and challenging.

The sound in the game is good. They did a good job of replicating the intense sound of an F1 engine allthough missing is the high pitch scream that the cars achieve at high speeds. I have Colin Mcrae 3 and NASCAR Thunder and this ranks up there as one of the top racing games for The Xbox. If you love F1 or open wheel racing then get this game. Don't even bother with that Indycar game.

Great game, EA sports never fails! It is quite hard to steer and it doesn't allow for your own music to be played but other than that it is great fun. I like the "sports oriented" quality of gameplay! Racing is awesome. It is a hard game to master because of control difficulty but you will eventually get the hang of it and once you do it is impossible to put down. If your into "white collar" racing you will love it. If your into "blue collar" racing stick with NASCAR thunder! Worth the money for racing fans

It's fun, but not what I was expecting

This game is good, however using my steering wheel is not that great. Turning is slow to begin, then gets very quick too fast. I cannot figure out how to shift using the paddles or shifter. The graphics are good, but you won't be amazed. I would wait for the next generation F1 to see if there are any improvements.

Realistic and Challenging

This game is a very good boost to a hopefully increasing market in F1 games. I believe it has the realism and options most hard core sim fans get off on, yet the ease of use that arcade style-gamers can appreciate. Having trouble abiding by the rules or driving in the rain? Just turn off those features and race hard in the dry if you wish. It's only flaw is that the cars seem quite out of proprtion on the track, making it difficult to pass. I found myself closing right up on cars in a corner or straight and hitting them from behind or swerving into the grass to pass, despite the exeptional A.I. The handling is quite good; I encourage the use of a racing wheel. Plus, the game has a unique challenge mode adding depth to the game while honing your skills. If you keep the difficulty up to a level that challenges you, expect to be pressured at every turn, paying for your mistakes with the loss of one, or many, positions. You can't just pull a 10 second lead on the pack through the first corner and then be relaxed and free to make mistakes, no; your pit crew will warn you of people drawing nearer (or getting further) to you or your teammate. I suggest this game to anyone who wants to experience the thrill of passing a car pushing just as hard as you at 200 mph.

Computer Game for the Xbox

Clearly, this game is a direct port from the F1 computer game. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I do enjoy the game, but you should manage your expectations before you play it the first time.

The graphics are a straight port, so don't expect anything better than a normal PC game with an average 3D card. The game is very detailed and enjoyable to play, which is very important.

I'm not as huge an F1 fan, but I really enjoy open wheel racing, and this is really the only option you have at Xbox launch. To sum up, if you're an open wheel racing fan, this is a good buy, if you just want to race, look into Project Gotham Racing and NASCAR Thunder.

I LOVE F1. LOVE it. I love how they race in the rain, there are 2 cars per team, and (most of all) I love the attitudes the drivers have. What a bunch of cocky... This game is very fun to play. Its not all that realistic, though. Even if I blow it in qualifying, I can make it all up before the first turn. Whats that about? Too many of the cars finish the race, too. Yeah, they dont have intermediate tires, either. But if you chose the camera angle where you see nothing but the track, your're in for some fun. Its fun to race in the challenge mode, where you give your opponent (little brother, girlfriend, drunk or high friend, whatever) a head start.
I wish you had more control in the settings of the car other than the tires. No wing adjustment, no steering fine tuning, no gearing changes. Its a fun game with good controls, but its not quite the F1 sim I was looking for. Once I accepted the fact that its not a sim, Ive been having a lot more fun with the racing game.
Its fun to pass Schumacher as Montoya. That really pisses of my roommate, possibly the biggest Schumacher fan this side of the Rhine.

Excellent F1 Simulation

All in all I found this to be an excellent F1 simulation. The XBox controller provides smooth control, with the right trigger as the throttle, the left trigger the brake, and the left analog stick for steering.

Players can choose from all 23 tracks and all the 2001 drivers.

The casual gamer can turn off damage and drive in "Normal" mode; the biggest challenge is to stay on the track. More advanced drivers can add whatever degree of realism they like, including damage, fuel usage, tire wear and penalties. The cars can be tweaked before each race; some of the settings include gear ratios (pre-set and custom), front and rear wing angle, tire pressure and type, and so on.
