Near Mindless Fun

This is a Shoot-em-up Game.
I got it because it came very recommended.
You and or a friend shoot giant BUGS and ROBOTS.
There are A LOT of weapons to find and 5 levels of difficulty to find the on.

This game really is in need of a refined part 2 for many reasons which is why I rated it so low but is still lots of challenging fun.
There is no XBL but could really benefit from at least online co-op. You just get in, choose weapons go shoot!

When you get new weapons you may feel like trying it out on the stage you just played. Then you mak feel like uping the difficulty to try it...See what I mean?

Its cheap enough, get it.

Sleeper hit here!

This is one of the better 360 games I have played. I have not owned my 360 long but this was recommended by a freind of mine. He did not dissappoint.

There are 5 levels or difficulty as follows:

Easy
Normal
Hard
Hardest
Inferno

I will state that right now, Inferno is insane. The game itself is fantastic as the graphics are right and controls are responsive. This is a great game to play with friends as well. I have enjoys a few evenings playing this with freinds at the house.

The only drawbacks are the following:

No online play
Will lag a little with lots of action going on

Other than these 2 drawbacks, this is a title that I would suggest picking up.

This game excels at fun. Something many developers have forgotten.

I bought this title, because it was a budget price, and looked like it might offer some fun for a few days. It's given me that and more! I've played this more than any other game on my 360 so far. First, let me qualify that this is not a "top tier" game in graphics or realistic physics. It's really not ground breaking in those respects. They do however serve the material well. The entire game has a delightful B grade movie feel. If you've ever enjoyed movies with giant ants, robots, UFO's, and Giant Godzilla like monsters, you'll instantly get the appeal of this game. The ants and spiders teem and swarm over buildings. The giant robots have a 70's comic book aesthetic. They plod along with a perfectly believable gait for their size. Reminding me of the slow but inevitable advance of the AT-AT's in Empire Strikes Back. They are definitely my favorite enemy, as they satisfyingly recoil with each well placed rocket or sniper shot to the head. It's also great fun to watch an onrushing swarm of bugs get broken by your grenade launcher, sending a couple of Mack truck sized ants into the air. Good times!

This game does not have an online component, but I don't think that is a detractor. Most new FPS games are focusing online and leaving less material for single player games, and less and less on console multiplayer support. In exchange, you get 50+ levels with different missions and enemies, and a selection of 5 different difficulties. The harder level you play the better the weapons you receive! I'm only now starting to play on Hard and some of the weapons are becoming VERY satisfying.

The levels are usually simple. Objective? Kill everything or destroy an objective. Simple. No running around looking for that last enemy (they're all on your radar), no looking desperately for that one power up or switch to flip. You are also free to run anywhere, and the levels are huge. You aren't canned into a set path like most FPS singleplayer. The buildings are fully destructible. One rocket or grenade and they believably crumble ala Independence Day. The only things I don't like, are that you get knocked down in some attacks making it impossible to maneuver, and that the vehicles are almost impossible to pilot effectively. The mech and tank could have been much more satisfying than they were. If you chose to use them, they make better gun emplacements. Shoot with them as long as they last, then fight on foot.

If you are a hardcore 12 year old twitch monkey, or a FPS elitist, you might not like this game. If you'd just enjoy a game you can put in for 15-30 mins of mindless shoot'em up you can play with a friend, this might be the game for you! Mine was $20 new. It is a steal and a pleasant surprise, especially for that price.

Mindless Fun Galore--And Cheap Too!

This is the sort of addictive, mind-swallowing twaddle that you can easily find yourself gleefully playing for hours on end without a break--and loving every minute of it. It's campy, overtly inattentive to the laws of physics, and absolutely wild. Your time is put to good use shooting off various automatic and semi-automatic weapons, rockets, missiles, and grenades at giant insects, enormous plasma-spitting robots, spikey godzilla-like monsters, and UFO's out the wazoo. Level buildings that block your view of the critters you're shooting, take a blazing bath through insect gore until the surrounding landscape disappears in the thick of it, and lose yourself in the idiotic bliss of pure, uncomplicated mayhem. Imagine driving a steamroller through a rioting mob at a 120 mph. Saving the world from alien invaders has never been more fun.

Make sure to enlist a friend

While the single player in this game is amazing in its own right, the 2-player co-op is where the game shines. But be warned, if you attempt inferno difficulty you might throw some controllers (the reward is COMPLETELY worth it though). Find a good friend because it will take a long long time. There are also a ton of weapons to find, well over 100 if I remember. Some of them are pretty standard, and a few are pretty out there. You owe it to yourself to buy this game, seriously.

I own Rock Band, Orange Box and Bioshock, yet this is still the most fun 360 game I have played to date...and don't get me wrong, those games are also excellent.

Good times, good times...

In a world that is FAR too concerned with frame rates and graphics and weather or not you can commit sexual assault on fellow players after a frag, Earth Defense Force 2017 is a welcome change. Well, not so much a change as a refresher-course on the thing that most game developers overlook: fun.

The game looks like crap. Seriously. We're talking a bad PS2 game. But you know what? That doesn't matter. Neither do the bad physics, voice acting, or repetitive enemies. The game hinges around three things.

1. Weapons. There are a lot of weapons in this game. Like, a LOT. All are variations of your typical first-person shooter fare(or in EDF's case, 3rd-person) and all are really great to mess around with. Nothing quite so entertaining as watching the "Air Tortoise" slowly arc its way to its target and explode in a comically massive way.

2. Destruction. Wanna blow up a building? Do it. Cars? Sure. UFOs? Why not? Wave after hilarious wave of giant ants? By all means. Not really much else to say here. Point your gun at something and, odds are, it'll blow up, crumble, or die.

3. Fun. 2-player co-op is the best way to play this game. Grab a friend, grab a beer, and just go to town on those aliens. This isn't to say that the game isn't fun on your own. Oh, quite the contrary. I found myself saying "This game shouldn't be fun, but for some reason it is." You'd think the repetition would get old, but that just isn't the case here.

You really can't go wrong with EDF. Its cheap, its fun, and its funny. Just buy it.

Recently purchased this game, and for a $20 B-rated game it is quite fun actually! Best played co-op for maximum damage on the enormous bugs and robots. Pretty addicting game, worth the buy.

Bought this based upon reviews on Amazon and thought what the hell $20. Yes, it seems to be brainless shoot em up in the mode of Serious Sam somewhat which I'm a fan of but damn is this thing addictive.

It starts out sort of corny and seems damn is this easy but damn does it build level by level and took 2.5 hours to go through 5% of the game at level 13 of 52 levels and walkthru's seem mandatory to choose proper weapons. The intensity of the levels are amazing just on Normal levels a notch above easy and the vibrations on the controller so extreme the controller is about to pop out of my hands.

As others have noted this doesn't pretend to be an RPG combat game but you best use some strategy as the game progresses the intensity levels are extreme. Also, the destructability of the surroundings is amazing while you battle and the scope and vastness of enemies are amazing. Oh well, if you need safe escapism for a cheap $20 this is the ticket IMO.

I finished Halo3 on Legendary but this is a totally different creature again in the mode of the Serious Sam series IMO. Fun as hell in it's own way. I've bought so many games that sucked it's wonderful when you come across sleepers you've never heard of before.

I purchased this game to play co-op with a friend. I played it a few times to try to get into it. I just never could.

I cannot describe how lacking it was. The graphics are mediocre. The gameplay is lame. It is one of the one or two games I have not played through to completion.

Fun dorky game.

I have to agree with other postings. This game is like an old godzilla movie. Levels can be very hard, I've been playing coop with my kids and we're loving it. It's hard to find games that play coop and are still suitable for kids. yah! I like to kill spiders!
