Spidey Rocks

This game is fun, addictive, but short. If you play it straight (morning to late night or even earlier) you will beat the game. However there are several difficulty levels and several character combinations which keep it interesting. Best part of the game (unlike the DS version) is that you can choose your sidekick and the story is much more developed.

It is what it is...

When I was first interested in Spider-man 3 (wii) game I noticed they made it for the wii as well. I had yet purchased a wii, but I knew I wanted one before Spider-man 3 game came out. I thought it would be awesome! Looking online, like most people looking at the game play and reading as much as I could on the game, and seeing the ads on television. I thought wow! This is going to be awesome especially on the wii sense you have to use the remote and the nunchuk to fight swing in the air. Which that part was fine. But the let down, as you may read in many other reviews is that graphically it's not the best. It is smoother and the city is 2X bigger and you can get hit by a car, which is neat, which you can't do in Spider-man 1 (no free roaming) or 2. But if you are going on the game mainly thinking about the graphics, don't bother. I thought it would be the same for PS3 maybe my naivety but I just assumed. I knew there were character differences, but... Save your money, or wait until the PS3 lowers in price and get the game for it. The wii game wasn't even made by the same game developers of PS3 or Xbox360. I did enjoy it when I played it but the game took its toll on me when I finished it and I realized I couldn't do the same things that were on the PS3 version. The graphics are 100X better for the PS3, due in part for the next gen technology. It looses the fun quality after the fact knowing that game is not up to par with the other consoles, but the game for the wii is what it is...

Spidey caught in a web of pointless plots!

Spidey 3 for Wii started out great...getting used to the Wii Remote swinging was kinda tricky and first but the great old Bruce Cambell kept you in the game until you knew exactly what to do. Good training excersises. The graphics for this game lets face it its for the Wii so once again lets not complain we know what the Wii is only capable of. The cinematics however are amazing better then any other wii game ive seen its really close to the xbox 360 version. Well ill point out the problems first the game spends way too much time on pointless battles with several streeet gangs, some missions actually repeat twice or three times in order to get to the next level. New York city looks like crap in the game i know the wii is only capable of so much but hey they could had put a lil more detail the city is clean as hell...no (marketing on times square it just made no sense. The game is not keeping faith to what was not even such a great movie in the first place. I meen for bout a good 1 quarter of the game is spent fighting the lizard who is rumored to be in spidey 4 it kinda kills the mood a lil bit. However the game was really fun beating up the bad dudes....and finally fighting venom which took way to long to get to i think...any i dont recomment buying it just rent it at ur local video store like i did dont waste [...] dollars on this!

Not too shabby

A decent game that so far has kept my interest . Controls get better with experience, web slinging alot of fun and the black suit feature is cool. Hopefully this is just a stepping stone for developers for Wii games! I will take fun controls over graphics any day

Webslinging is fun...nothing else is...

I just finished the story mode of the game, and I feel that it is sad when you can beat the story and still have 52% left of the game. that to me makes no sense, and I feel that there should be more story then other tasks. The webslining is fun, but it takes a while to learn how to use it effectivly. I also didn't enjoy how the game didn't follow the movie at all. Yes the few villans spiderman fights in the movie are in the game, but the way you fight them, and how they die are completly different. Also they tied in some aspects of the movie that are false in the game (Sandman's daughter). Yes she is a character in the movie, but in the game they changed her character. I also would have like if they would have stuck to the timeline of the movie. The game feels rushed, and it just goes from one thing to the other.

Thats my opinion...take it for what its worth.

If you want to play...rent...don't buy.

Insulting to Wii Owners

This game is an example of a 3rd party Wii game that just feels tacked together. There's a decent amount of effort put into swinging and in the end that's the best part of the Wii version of this game.

Once on the ground though the game becomes completely counter-intuitive. I'd rather do button combos than try to swing the remote side to side with little responsiveness. Combat is simply not fun because in the end it turns into swinging wildly or relying on the A button. Camera is also completely unmanageable.

The game is ridiculously glitch ridden and randomly Spidey will get stuck floating in mid-kick or a mission will fail or pass instantly after starting it.

People complain about the graphics, personally I would gladly take what they give if the gameplay was anything up to par with Spider-man 2 or Ultimate Spider-man, but that's simply not the case. It's a pretty ugly game, if my PS2 can handle God of War and GTA: San Andreas, why does my Wii version of Spider-man 3 look like I'm swinging through a graphing calculator?

The game was obviously rushed and most of the controller configuration besides the swinging (which could be better, but shows promise) was an afterthought. The game can be finished within a couple of hours and completing the bonus goals simply opens up things you already had earlier in the game. If you want a 3rd party sandbox Wii game done right, get the Godfather. This is simply insulting to Wii users.

I did like it... but it could have been better.

By the way, Susan Gill's son wrote this. Ok back to the point.

Pros: The controls on this installment are unique to say the least. Flicking the wiimote and nunchuck for spider-man's left or right hand was pure genius. The controls seem a little odd at first, but to be honest I thought that they pulled it off quite nicely.
One of the main features of the game that everyone looked forward to was that you got to play as black suit. The mechanics are simple in this installment. Once you unlock him (which was early on in the game)you can switch between them at will. When you play as black suit, your faster stronger, and you get to use every combat move before you unlock it for the red suit. The catch is that once your rage meter fills up a black haze comes over the screen and starts to envelope it. If you don't switch out soon, you'll pass out, and if you were doing a mission you fail it.
The new gang missions are definitly a step up in the game.
Also another feature in the game was a new thing called cinteractives. It's basically all that button pressing stuff like in kingdom hearts 2 or god of war.

Cons: The graphics could have been WAY better on this game. The wii has an engine that's like 10 or 5 times bigger than the original xbox. The graphics wouldn't have been as good as the next gen, but it should have come close. Spider-man looks a little better than sm2's, but his costume's eye things look disfigured. The black suit's eyes look better, but his suit annoyed me because of how flat it looked compared to the next gen's which was alot shinier. If you don't believe me here's an example. You know times square? The place with all the lights and stuff? It's still there, but geuss what? NO LIGHTS!!! Nothing at all! There's hardly any room for detail at all.
One of the biggest dissapointments was the fact that it had no sewers or subway sytems! They were backed down to be made interior levels. Even though they had subway entrances all around the city they were blocked up! They could have easily scaled down the city to make enough room for a sewer and subway system( and believe me the city is humongous).
Even though you can roam around in black suit as much as you want as long as you don't go into rage mode (and don't worry, it takes a fair amount of hit's just to get into rage mode) you only get him until after you beat the game. After you beat it you have to find 50 spider emblems to get it back. The downside, it's a humongous city! The good side is that once you get it you can control rage mode. I don't know if it means that you could stay in it for as long as you want, but I don't know cuss I haven't gotten them all... yet. There is only one other set of tokens in the city: meteorite's. There are exactly 100 of them, but once you get them all, you get to play as venom. I'm not quite sure if he's his own character or if he's still spider man only he looks like venom. As before, I haven't gotten them all... yet. Another good thing is that it's easier to unlock venom on the wii ps2 and psp than on next gen systems. You see, if you get pretty close to them, they make a noise that get's louder as you get closer. The spider emblems are kinda hard to find, the meteorites are alot easier cuss there always out on buildings in the open, but it makes it a whole lot better to find them if you turn up the tv a little and just listen. You'll know what I mean if you get the game.
I hate to say it, but there are glitches in the game. I can't really give any examples because I would have to make this review way bigger than it already is.
The story unfolds by itself. This may not sound all that bad, but the next gen system allows you to pick which villian you want to fight in the villians own story line. There were 10 villians on the next gen systems including the movies villians, but there were only 8 on the wii, ps2, and psp's. That makes only 5 villians not including the movie's villians. It's kinda like as you move on in the story they set up the order of which villian you were going to play against.
The combat was definitly improved since sm2. Villians can dodge but only a one type can, but now you get to vault over them and start pounding the heck out of them. But dodging is a completly redone thing. All he does now is just roll out of the way. On the next gen he actually dodges and then can attack again.
The gangs were also different on next gen. On the next gen a specific area was given to 3 gangs. On the wii, ps2, and psp's there are scattered areas with 4 different types of gangs. What I mean is that there's a dragon tail gang here and waste tribe gang there... you get the point. Of course, I guess it all depends on which one would suit you best.

All in all, there are qualities I like about both games. Like the fact that the camera is better on the current gen. The next gen with all its extra, perhaps better, content like swimming. I'm going to buy it on the pc cuss it was based off of the 360's version, and you can swim. I think I'll keep both games in the end though. That way I can balance it out. And before you go off doing the same thing that I'm gonna try and do, look at the power it takes for the game. It's apparently pretty big.

Best Spiderman 3 Experience out of any console!

SM3 on the Wii has truly shown what the right minds with the right console can do. The game itself and the story may not have been all that great, but the web slinging with the Wii remotes was probably the most satisfying feeling I have had on the Wii. If you buy the 360,PS3 or PS2 versions you're going to get the same game, with almost nothing different. The Wii version offers you an amazing control scheme that can't be beat by any of the other consoles. If you really want to feel like spiderman swinging around the city, buy the Wii version!

You're better off buying a GameCube and Spiderman 2 for 50 bucks

This might be the worst game to come out for the Wii. First, let me just say that I love both the Wii and the Spiderman franchise. I'm not a Nintendo hater and Spiderman, especially games 1 and 2, were definitely my thing. What's wrong with this game? It's definitely not the controls. Swinging that web with your wii remote and nunchuk really is as cool as you imagined it would be. That's the one part of the game the developers got right.

Everything else makes you want to return the game and get your money back. No kidding, if you plug in a Gamecube and Spiderman 2, and a Wii and Spiderman 3, and climb up to the top of the Empire State Building in each, the Gamecube looks infinitely better. There's not a loss of detail in the buildings on the Wii version, there is NO detail on the buildings. None at all.

When I saw my first cut-scene movie I thought my game was scratched and they had given me a defective copy. That's how bad the cut scene graphics are.

Rent this game and do a shot of web to an enemy's face - literally the graphic displayed is a white, Pong-esque dot floating across the screen, that vanishes before it really even touches the opponent, and a faceless polygon blob covers his "eyes".

The game does LOOK better on the PS3 and 360, but I can't say that it plays any better. And it only looks better on the PS3 because it looks a lot like a slightly improved GameCube version of Spiderman2.

Any good from this game? Well, they made improvements to the web zip. It does more now than it did before, and they didn't really make it any worse. So that's a plus. The Wii controller shines here - it really is outstanding and if only they had made an actual game we could have really seen it at work. This game really stinks. Even if you loved the other 2 Spiderman games, this one you will hate. Save your money and if you really feel the need to websling with the Wii, wait till this game costs 20 bucks, which shouldn't be that long.

Great game, for about the first hour

If you love Spider-man as much as I do, and you just can't miss out on this game, and you have a Wii and either an XBox 360 or Playstation3, get it for the 360 or PS3. It just has a huger enviroment, more villians, more missions, and more everything. If you ony have a Wii as a major system and you already played Spider-man 2, then this game is definetly worth renting at BlockBuster for 5-8 bucks. The web-slinging is really fun, and i am sure you will beat the game within a week. Once you beat the final boss, venom, you will still be able to roam the city and do boring crime spree missions, but there really is no point. Do not buy this game.
