I ordered the 'special edition' but when it arrived it was just the regular 'greatest hits' edition. I still had to pay for the special edition though...

Other reviewers also had this problem...so it's not just me.

The game is great, but my advice is just buy the regular edition...the extra 30 minute video is about "the history of lowriding" and not about the game.

This game has it all, you can fly, swim, get stronger, fight like crazy, and have an amazing amount of freedom. Much like the other GTA games. They seem to get better and better with every game they make and more realistic as well. If you really don't like that much realism, then by all means look up the wide amount of cheats to this game and have fun they make the options very wide and to your playing style if you want to just screw around and run wild without following the game plot.

The controls are simple and easy to get used to after a short while and stay close to the other Playstation versions of the game and the story and side objectives will have you playing for days and even months without getting tired of it.

The Hot Coffee mod that everyone freaked out over made a huge movement, but what should've been considered is the word. "MOD" Meaning it wasn't intended to be part of the game and someone in their basement made it. So just don't download it if you don't want it. Luckily this only means the PC version. So just block the sites that have it if you really are over protective for your kids.

Excellent!

Es un juego muy bueno, no para chicos ni jovenes, solo para adolecente. Es lo mas real ha estar en una pandilla, revive el antiheroe que ahi en ti.

Greatest Game Ever

Just buy this game, it's the same do anything formula, with an amazing storyline, addictive gameplay, and so many more features. Some idiot keeps mentioning it's like the sims. I never eat and I work our once per 20 hours (20 real life hours) and never lose anything. Better than vice city, 3x more radio and commercials (They're funny :P) 1.5x as many weapons and 4.5x vechicles (Like 10 ships, and 8 planes and 180 cars, 7 motorcycles, and stuff like 4x4, monstor truck, jak 3 type vehicles)

Fun and funny!

Wow, this is a really fun game, more on the adult side. It is so cool, it looks so real! The game is about a guy named Cj, while being gone for five years on the east coast, he returns to where he grew up(gheto). While you get betrayed, he learns a lot about San Andreas. This Grand Theft Auto is a lot more free than the others, Vice City is a good one also. You can fly jets, planes, etc. Also a jetpack. Overall its a great game and is worth the money! I give it five stars!

Two words: complicated & overrated

If you're reading this, you probably love the game and hate my review already simply based on my title. That's fine. I know I'm the small minority that pretty much hate this game. This game is a love it or hate it type of game.

This is why I hate the game (and why you probably love it):

1. It's too much like "The Sims." That's right, the Sims. Along with the standard health, armor, and wanted levels, you have "stamina," "fat," "sex appeal," and many more I forgot. These meters effect your game and you have to keep them in check. It becomes tedious and boring having to worry about eating or working out or having the right type of clothes.

2. It's too complicated. As mentioned with the comparison to The Sims, it's becomes more complicated with the driving maps. The one thing I liked so much about Vice City was the simple layout it had; GTAIII was a bit too complex for me, especially with timed missions. Well, San Andreas makes GTAIII look like Vice City. It's just way too complicated to get where you have to go with bridges and overpasses and junk like that.

3. It's just not fun. Drive-by's and just getting shot at on the streets is the norm. There are no fun, fast cars in the beginning. You have to constantly worry about your "homies" on a mission because if they die, you fail the mission. Yes, it makes the game more realistic, but it makes it less fun. In video games, fun takes a back seat to realism.

4. Too much story. There are parts where you have to watch the in-between stories. This is annoying to people like me who don't care about the story and just want to play the game.

5. Too much talking. A lot of the missions are teamed missions (and hey, you get to drive the car while your homies gets to shoot the guns. Fun? Not really) and all your friends talk during the mission. What they say is not funny or entertaining; it's annoying. It distracts from the radio, which is sometimes funny (but not nearly as funny as Chatterbox or KCHAT).

With that being said, it's still a GTA game and every 5th mission is somewhat fun, which is why I'm giving 2 stars.

Big step from vice city!

I've been playing the GTA series for 4 years now and I decided that Vice City was the very best of all video games ever made!...until I got this game a week ago...The game is so much more like real life in a gang(not that I know, but compare this to vice city and its pretty obvious0. The only reason I gave it a 4-star overall rating is because in two-player roam mode, almost every plane holds only one person(please pardon me if I'm wrong, I only have one PS2 controler...the other one's for PSone). If you liked vice city, you will probably believe there must be a god when you buy this!

my son plays this game all the time

Everybody loves this game, and I can't figure out why. It's almost impossible to get money, you die far to easy, and the missions are tedious; hoo boy lets get a haircut...good times. I played True Crime and it was soo much better than this. Maybe I didn't play it long enough, maybe I just suck royally at this game, but I didn't think it owned up to its fame
