Okay, I for one fact, enjoys all the tycoon games (rollercoaster tycoon, Zoo tycoon, and so on...) I thought this game would be fun because I am a shopoholic and I thought to myself - "wouldn't just be great if I can make my own shopping mall?"
and so I bought this game.
Much to my dismay however, this game totally sucks! It's very hard to get it to work and I installed this game nearly 10 times and it's still not working. My computer is definitely compatible but I don't know what's wrong. I tried to clean out other files on my disk but it still wouldn't work.
Well, later I went on their website (Mall tycoon 2's website) and downloaded the demo which I thought might tell me how this thing would work. Unfortunately again, after I installed it on my computer it still wouldn't work! It just sits there on the screen and when I tried to open it, nothing happens.
I told my dad about the problem (my dad's computer engineer) and he can't get the game working either! Well, then I contacted Globalstar and they haven't replied me for months!
I just recently got it working thanks to one of my friends in school but again to my dismay, the game is absolutely horrible!
Why it's bad:
- The graphics are horrible
- The people in the game have no faces
- There's no tutorial so you have to figure it out yourself
- The scenarios are not at all interesting
- You run out of money almost instaneously
- It's really hard to zoom in
I only gave it 2 stars because you can actually do something in the game (building a mall) that is, if you can get it working.
I did not really enjoy playing this game as much as I did playing other Tycoon and Sim games.

This is not a good game to play. I bought this game and tried to play it. After a while, I found that this game is not entertaining at all, quite confusing, and aimless. The objective of each mission is not so clearly stated and you are puzzled with its control panel. You'll have an array of building tools and options. But you don't know what to do with them. No tutorial included, poor 3D graphics, pity music/sound ambient, confusing gameplay, aimless obejectives.
I wish I wasn't attracted to its cover and publisher notes at the back of the CD case. I suggest you to avoid this game. Buying this game is worthless, wasting your time, and not fun at all.

before even CONtemplating purchasing this game. I suggest you check out their forum site. (which Globalstar apparently doesn't too much) Even tho, there has been a patched released. Many people are still having problems getting the game to run. as in, ad, ad, BLACKOUT, boot to desktop. Even tho, they are running a variety of video cards that 'technically' should work! (updated drivers, tried all sorts of setting, etc)
I am one of the 'lucky' few to get this game to run. (pretty much 32 bit 800 x 600 only is what the general view is) problems with any other setting.
and... it's an 'ok' game.. but once the 'novelty' wears off.. it will probably be another coffee pretty coffee coaster.
Cant even play this game. A total waste.

What a waste of 30+ dollars. I had purchased the original, and even though had so many problems operating it. Due to numerous bugs, contained in the game. Figured, with this new title. They would have put out a better product. Only to find out I was sadly mistaken. This company sells you a non useable game. I put the game in, it crashes back down to the desktop. I did all the things the the tech support website instructed. to run it, still crashes. They have no live tech support, just an email address, and a website. Where, hundreds of people have posted complaints about the same issue, that I have. You would think the company would get back to thier customers about this issue, it has been over 2 months, and have not gotten an email, or a reply, to the website, no patch nothing. The company, and the game is a rip off. Another poster obviously got thier game to work, who posted such a great review for this game. But, I am here to attest. That this game is a waste. For the sake of those thinking about purchasing this game. Take a look at thier tech support website@ globalstarsoftware.com read about all the complaints others are having about this game. Before u go and waste your money. Just trying to help a fellow gamer out.

This is undoubtedly the worst simulation game to have ever been released. The graphics are poor, even at the highest resolution; the game is both confusing and uninteresting; and the scenarios are, at best, uninspired. Don't bother with this game...buy Tropico, Zoo Tycoon, or something else designed by people with talent.

I have an exceptional and probably excessive amount of Sim games in my collection. All of Maxis', "The Sims" expansions including the latest, Makin' Magic, Sim City 4, Zoo Tycoon with Expansions, Roller Coaster Tycoon with expansions, etc., etc.
I was incredibly disappointed with this game to the ends that I played it for two hours before uninstalling it, repacking it, and putting it up for sale on eBay to have it taken off of my hands immediately afterwards. I wasn't about to drive myself crazy with frustration and the displeasure I got out of the first two hours alone. It's too bad I won't get those two hours back to play something that made more sense. LOL.
The previous reviews have probably said it all;
The game has no tutorial. I spent the first hour playing guessing games to get accustomed with how the menu bars work. The second hour was trial and failure; working with it to get some kind of business going once I had a general idea on how to navigate through the game. There is not enough money to begin with and the game comes to an abrupt end which is highly frustrating.
The cursor on the screen is big enough that you can probably see it from 50 feet away with no options to tone it town several times smaller.
The options available for this game were just about slim-to-none.
The scenarios didn't seem remotely interesting. I tested one out to try and make up my own tutorial and get something running to be met with the same frustrations as I did when I tried the free-build mode.
I have no problem spending the money to buy the strategy guides for Sim Games, and this one I had to say I wouldn't dare do. The game alone was just terrible. Even at a reasonably low price, I do not recommend this game.
I recommend pretty much any other Tycoon game outside of the Mall Tycoon games to have a good time with.
An inferior simulation

I like simulators a lot, especially the kind when you get to custumize everything and be creative. This game is a big disappointment. First of all it is near impossible to make money. If you do make money, it will come in so slow that you will literally have to play for several days before you can underake significant construction projects on your mall. The game moves so slow that you really don't get to build or customize at all! Most likely, you'll start the game, build a few little shops, and won't have enough money to do much else for several days.
This problem could be remedied with a good cheat code or two, but none of the cheat codes on the internet work for the game! The game is so subpar for its genre, that even the old 1990's era SimTower was FAR SUPERIOR. The graphics are pretty bad and the games financial difficulties take away any joy of customization that you normally get from these types of games. No matter what strategy you employ or building strategy you use, you get similar results, SLOOOOOOOOOW growth or a gradual dwindling of your assets.
The sbopper animations are not very interesting, the store animations are cheap and not very interesting, the options are few. This is a game that leaves very little to no opportunities for fun. Stay away from it.
THIS GAME DIDN'T WORK FOR ME & IT PROBABLY WON'T FOR YOU!!

When I saw the Mall Tycoon 2 game at my school book fair, I was so excited that I could get it and I thought it would be so fun to play. My Mom bought it for me for Valentines Day and I immediatly installed it on my computer. This took a while, but finally it completed. I crossed my fingers, hoping it would work b/c my cousin said it didn't work on her comp. when I bought her the same game for her bday. At first, I thought it was working but after all the names of the company's flashed by, it went back to my desktop. I tried everything and it still won't work. Mabye my system isn't up to date enought; i don't know. But after skimming through the other reviews, I think that the company that made this game is not that great since the other 1's said the same thing. DON"T BUY THIS GAME; IT IS A BIG RIPPOFF!!!!!
Would've been fun...

I bet this game would have been fun...IF IT WORKED!!! This game wouldn't even start after I loaded it! I wouldn't waste your money on this. You should get RollerCoaster Tycoon instead.
