If video games had something like the Oscars...

This game was exactly what I was looking for. VS has a look and feel and moodiness all it's own. All of my favorite things (movies, D&D, comics) come to life in presentational form. I can't believe this ridiculous game fits on one disk! Two things: plan on spending about 1 hour per percent complete and... BRAVO SQUARE for putting some "love" into it! This is exactly why they're the only company I blindly buy games from.

As far as I know, Squaresoft has yet to come out with a bad game. When I bought this game I didn't really know what to expect. I knew it had a different fighting system, but that can mean lots of things. I have trouble putting the controller down when I play this game. It is extremely fun. The story line is good, the graphics are great, and the battle system isn't incredibly complex. I highly recommend this game to any hardcore gamer.

Vagrant Story is not one to buy

I give my props for coming up with an excellent villian.(Best one since Sephiroth) The battle is decent since you dont have to wait for a time bar to fill. The worst thing is unlike FF7, is that you stay in one city for the entire game. The graphics are not all that great either. If your one that likes games that you have to go to other cities this isnt for you. I am also very disapointed in the story line. The bosses were way to easy. And anyway the puzzles are kinda lame to.

If you like games that have very easy enemies and like staying in one place this is for you.

So Darn Fun!

This game was better than a barrel of monkeys! And believe me I know. The bad guy was a scary as a lion at feeding time. One question: why does he have to walk around shirtless? Is is a display of his power and his ultimate superiority? As if to say "I don't need armor, silly ingrates". The use of word bubbles was a very cool idea. I've never seen dialogue displayed in such a fashion. Fear Effect came the closest. BUY THIS GAME! ................

I bought this game about 3 months ago with very high expectations and excitement for the game I loved the grphics and storyline I saw.But after playing the game for about 3 days I got bored. I personally think the game is to slow moving and the storyline just drags on and on with no change in it. The charachter Ash seems to stay in a dungeon which I think should have been more designed for exploring and attrbute building than being a main storyline area.The weapon and magic sytem design is way to complicated to be any fun to use esp. if you are a first time rpg'er and you play this game.So all in all I personally think I wasted my money and time with this game but thats my own opinion and I will stick with my FF games and other rpgs.

Vagrant Story is the story of Ashley Riot, a Riskbreaker with supressed memories. As you progress through this game you acquire memories, not only of battle skills and break arts but of your past. But are those memories of your family reliable? Were they planted, but by whom and why? VS's story will grab you by the throat, twist and turn and still have you wondering what happened at the end.
To some, the idea of making your own armour and weapons sounds tedious, but the reality of it is something else. It's great to see something you've created in action against a knight, a dragon a tough Boss. So take the time to read up on this part of the gameplay.
The graphics, although somewhat dated now, are still excellent. The music is captivating. I would, however, have preferred actors to play the character's voices and thereby imbue them with life rather than having to read every nuance and gasp.
My only negatives of this game are the slot-machine way of increasing skills and the beatability of it. Without a doubt it's the most difficult game I've ever played and, I felt, needlessly so. Don't get me wrong, I like a challenge, but I'm not keen on impossibility, which in all honesty I felt it was - in fact I couldn't complete VS game without cheat codes. And that, for me, was a decided negative and why I didn't award it 5 stars.
So if you like a good game with a great story that's a challenge to your skills as a player Vagrant Story will cover all that and more.

Vagrant has the best story of all videogames i have ever played (okay..Metal Gear Solid was even cool).The battle system is excellent and the sound is perfect..but at all the characters are the best of the game. Sidney,the so called messiah Ashley with his sad past Bardoba,the man in the background

Íts the best game that Square has made since FF3 (US)...and perhaps their best game forever.

A must buy

Riskbreaker vs. Dragons, Knights, Zombies, Minotars etc

ok if your the type of gamer who loves RPG's and a realy indept story line than this game is for you ... this lets you do every thing... from nameing your weapons to combineing weapons with gems and other weapons too! you'll face thousands of bad guys from lizards,knights,and ogars. to minotars, huge dragons, and even DEATH

Lets face it.Vagrent Story is the best role-playing game by far.The graphics are the best I've ever seen on the Playstation.But the battles are the best in any RPG yet.There are a LOT of monsters to kill and some of the bosses are very hard.In otherwords this game is a masterpiece.

This is without question one of the best (if not the best) game Square has ever made! The storyline is involving and easy to follow and the battle system is also great.I strongly suggest you buy this game! It's well worth whatever you pay for it.
