I purchased this game thinkning I could beat it in a fews weeks. Boy, was I ever wrong! After 6 months, I was STILL working on it, and loving every minute. The graphics may not be as detailed as in other games, but the puzzles and story line make up for it. If you like very challenging games, this is the one for you!

King's Field: I had no Idea what this game was. I found it in blockbuster, and rented it when the game I wanted wasn't there. I was extremely pleased at my choice. The play is real-time, the enemies are true three-dee, and the world is vast, and very complex. I have owned it for years, and no other game I have yet played has come close, in style and elegance. Although sluggish (15 frames per sec.) it is forgivable, when considering the complexity of game play. When emersed for hours, I go so involved, that I jumped when I suddenly die (hearing that scream). ASCII knew what they were doing, when the created this title. Why can't more games have such rich background, and involving play. If you are not a fan, or not sure, rent before you buy. If you hate the game, don't play.
I Wish They'd Make More Games Like This

This game was among the first I purchased for my Playstation. Being a new system there weren't many RPG's available at the time. King's Field is more of an action/RPG as it features arcade oriented combat, some neat puzzles, and some nice first person action.
A Classic 1st-person RPG!

When this game came out, it grabbed me, and those I know! The 1st person viewpoint throws you right into the game from the 1st moment you turn it on! For kids, it seemed scary, and for some adults, a bit slow, but for those who stick it out, this game goes on to many surprises. There are treasures to find, magic to hurl, mazes to get lost in, unusual enemies, hidden secrets, monsters to fight, and more! I also have KF 2, but for it's time, KF1 is a classic with astounding graphics!
