Not as much fun as the original, and the story was not as engaging, but the gameplay was incredibly challenging (almost too hard). Good graphics and a respectable plot. Overall, a great game and it really pushes the limits of what the ps One is capable of.

Colony Wars: Vengeance - Circa 1997

GOOD:
- Different and interesting story
- Some nice ships to unlock
- Unique gameplay physic that makes you feel really in space

BAD:
- Graphics may looked dated, to today video game players
- Controls can be tough
- Learning curve is high

IF IT FITS YOUR TASTE:
- Unique gameplay physic gives some gamers really bad motion sickness
- Multiple endings, and story outcomes
- Game may be to tough for some

GAME ITS MOST ASSOCATED TOO:
- Colony Wars
- Descent

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- In this game your play as the bad guys from the original Colony Wars (Earth's army)

This game is getting old now, I have to speak for the game because I bought it twice, once back in the day when it came out and again in 2004 for a lack of a good space shooter on the PS2. To this day the graphics hold up well and the gameplay factor is what brings you back for more. Missions range from escort to defend the base to take out the enemy base or fighters. The gameplay is hard, I mean really hard. (for easy play pick up colony wars 3). The missions are setup in fork fashion, loose a mission it changes the outcome, and completion path of the game. If you liked tie fighter or x-wing games from back in the day and you arn't to spoiled with modern graphics give this game a try.

indeed

This game is as stunning as the original, minus the second disc here, I was mildly disappointed when I found out it was a single disc...Oh well, the game rocks!!! Great graphics, great story, and cool looking ships...however the only problem here is how you GAIN ships, it takes awhile to get a faster ship...why cant companies stick to the original formula that make the original games the best??

Still a Great Game!

Buy This!!!!

This game is really neat. If you like shootem up games, this is the one. At times it is hard but isn't that what a game is supose to be? This game has action all the time. The controls are fairly easy and the ship functions like a plane does. I hope this helped.

This game is very great. However, the money that the Navy and League have is very strange. For example, look at the League, they have so many ships,a supergun,a couple of sentinels,a communications rig,a bunch of battleships, and thousand of little ships! The Navy have a supergun, few battleships, few small fighters, and the battleships need to be protected from little League Fighters! Why couldn't they have spent more money,or worked harder on the ships than what they did on it! The League must be rich! Other than this, the game is very good.

A Rush of a game...for those who don't mind futility

Colony Wars Vengeance takes off where Colony Wars left off. The most likely ending in Colony Wars has the good guys sealing off the Earth system. Vengeance has you joining up the other side to get revenge against the ones who sealed you up. The controls are familiar to the Colony Wars controls and the weapons have been expanded with the ability to customize your ship by adding more power to shields, weapons, and handling. However, the game just doesn't have the same magic as the first game. The difficulty level, extreme in Colony Wars has become rather murderous now which sometimes distracts from the idea that this is supposed to be a fun game. This wouldn't be too bad, but it begins getting old after the 5th or 6th or 81st time on a mission with barely any improvement or progression. If you like beautiful graphics, great star fighter puzzles, and combat (learn to use a tractor beam to tow debris into a black hole-which may suck you in too if you get too close), then this is a great game. BUT don't let it get to you personally because you'll most likely want to throw your controller across the room in frustration after a few missions.

the ABSOLUTELY INSANE DIFFICULTY basically ruined the game

This game would have been very good...IF the people who thought up the difficulty settings for this game were not complete lunatics (which they obviously were).

Really, after about an hour of play, you will probably toss the game back in its box in disgust and never play it again, all because the difficulty is so outrageous. Its sad really. The first Colony Wars game was pretty good. Speaking of the first Colony Wars game, I wonder; why did they take the stats out of Colony Wars: Vengeance? Players of the first one will remember all the interesting statistics on the planets and ships in the Colony Wars universe that could be accessed as an interesting side option. Colony Wars: Vengeance has completely done away with this great feature of its predicessor.

The one thing that had great potential to add variety was not used anywhere near as well as it should have been. I am speaking of course about the planet-based missions. There aren't enough of them, the terrain is all bland and looks the same, and, like the rest of the levels: they are TOO DIFFICULT!

The story and plot are better in this one, but not good enough to erase the other problems.

The ONLY way to have any real fun in this game is to use cheat codes. If you are willing to do this (some people aren't),then this game is good for a rental, or if someone gives it to you as a gift, then its good to keep. But buy it unless you find it for 6 dollars or less.

This game offers a lot!

This game has it all! A great storyline, fairly smooth graphics, and amazing sound, it's all here. The game is well presented and well worth the price.
