Two classics, one great package!

Any fan would be crazy not to pick this up..
Both KOF 2000 and 2001 are included here and feature 3d backgrounds, 75 playable characters and a set of 5 trading cards (mail in)

The KOF series has always been one of quality and skill. No button mashing will suffice. I am certain some will dismiss the old school looks of this series but if you are a fan of 2D, hand drawn goodness, by all means, pick it up!
For serious competitors only..

I really enjoyed playing this game! I'm glad they finally brought 2k0 and 2K1 To the usa! This game is not exactly a street fighter EX game nor is it 3D. But this game would really be fun, Young or old. Any one will enjoy this if they are a 2D die hard fan, Fighting game fan, Exclusive SNK fan or loves to play Team battle games then this is the right choice for you!
I simply enjoyed 2001 much more than 2000. 2001 seemed to actually spice up the Menu's and you can actually fight with 4 fighters! And there are many Console specials, Like Hidden characters, Better Art work and Menu's and Party mode is available for 2001 only for the Playstation 2, Though it does not include Puzzle mode, Art gallery like The DC version. So if you wanted to play a puzzle go pick up a DC and Buy an import of King of fighters 2001. This game really suits alot of people. The graphics seem a little pixelated and could have done better if it wasn't actually ported from the Neogeo version. 2000 was actually a port form the Neogeo version and it includes almost all the strikers instead of doing those button mashing codes! 2000 also seemed to add a console exclusive, Kula diamond( Which was a hidden character in the neogeo version) And Zero can be playable! They acutally did 2001 from scratch but no imporvements over the graphics, It's almost the same as 2000.
You wouldn't enjoy 2001 if you played the Neogeo version! There's no color editing like KOF 99 which was used for the Color edit contest. This game's difficulty is probably for experts because even on beginner it's a little hard. The fun factor in this game is you get some help from team mates called the striker and whenever you beat the game using a certain team you can watch endings. Using any character for your team will just get a boring ending that has nothing to do with your fighters so you have to choose certain characters for your team.
So you deffinitly should pick this up! I hope i was informative enough!

SNK, please come back and take over PlayStation2!

Alright, now we got King of Fighters 2000 and 2001 released for PlayStation2. Now please, I'm begging you SNK, release your old classic titles for PlayStation 2! Especialy the Samurai Shodown series! I tell you something...you just don't get games like SNK anymore now a days. When I was a kid, I absolutely fell in love with the SNK games, but no one I knew could afford the insanely expensive Neo-Geo at the time. The used Neo-Geo systems and games are now even more expensive then they were first released. SNK has seriously entered into a cult status, with some really freaky fans that I unfortunaley talked to on some SNK fan sites. The bottom line is that SNK must RETURN and rule again!

First of all, This game has sweet graphics! (...) (...)BR>Why you should play this? Well if you are an exclusive 2d fighting game fan, Then you will LOVE this!
This game features secret strikers. Sometimes they get a little annoying if your opponent uses it too much.
The art work for 2000 is great! But some art work for 2001 is not that pretty. The combos and moves are awesom! There's no unlockable characters for 2000 though :-(. But there are 2 secret characters in 2001, And in 2000 you can unlock videos to remember the old kofs! I wish there were more secrets!
I love the endings, There more colorful also.
With 35+40 characters including like 40 strikers, ITS A PARTY! Speaking of party theres a new party mode thats kinda tuff! And you can unlock strikers and videos from it! Videos? There only 2 miniut long themes from old kof games. Who cares?
Still fun!

This game(s) is one of the greatest 2d fighters to ever come out on a console!! It is cool for people who want to play a 2d fighter for fun or, for the people who love crazy...combos. The combo system in these games is so fun, it is definatley worth a try if you havent already.

I have been playing the king of fighters since it first came out with KOF94 ,which leaves me with 10 years of experience now, the KOF 2000 and 2001 are just two master pieces, they just keep getting better and better, in this one you get better movements, better graphics, new characters and new 3D backgrounds and now actually I am getting older and I am trying to stop playing it ,but I just cant ,its just a classic and at KOF2001&2001 you find the best combos ever to be done at a 2D fighting game ever, and for the last thing I have to say: have fun with it and watch out you might get addicted!...YOU WILL!

the underwhelming return of the legendary SNK

The KOF series is unquestionbly one of the longest running 2D fighting game franchises in the history of gaming. The last SNK developed KOF was '00 while a new company called Playmore picked up with '01. Many would argue the series hit its peak with '98 (available on the DC) and I couldn't agree more. It's not that these two games are bad, on the contrary. There is a ton of stuff to master for the initiated. The gameplay isn't so much the problem as it's appeal. The graphics engine is very old and what was once passable well into the late 90s is now very dated and yawn inducing. The 2000 edition of the game is ported directly from the NeoGeo, with the same 2D backgrounds, character animations, ect. There is the option of unlocking opening movies from the entire KOF series from 94 to 99, but I didn't find it a big deal. The demos are interesting but not really worth the effort to unlocking them. Now maybe if an entire KOF game was unlocked (preferably 97) then it would be a different story. As a bonus, a wealth of new strikers have been added, some new, a lot from previous SNK games (awesome for the dedicated fans). Gameplay wise I always looked at 2000 as the weakest game in the series-with an almost identical game engine to 99 and no real improvements with the (very limited) ability to perform juggle combos. 2001 is much improved game play-wise, but suffers horribly in all other respects. The game's "upgraded" graphics include characters with a higher resolution, incredibly pixilated (more so than the original Neo game), awful looking 3D backgrounds that are hard to tell if they're polygonal or not, and the worst "music" I have heard in an SNK fighting game since the original World Heroes. Ah, but the gameplay is quite good. For the first time in the series' history there is the ability to to chain combos, controlling the fighter/striker ratio before battle and lots of other cool little game play tweaks. I think it's fantastic that SNK is back in business, but they need to do some serious hardware upgrading and move this series forward. Imagine a KOF game that looks like SF3! As it stands, the only people who will most likely get a lot out of this game are the fans who haven't burned out on the series already, or newbies curious about getting into the SNK cult. Unfortunately for them, KOF 2000/2001 do not represent the series finest hour and would do better to seek out the older games. Only the truly dedicated will get there money's worth out of this cool little package. Next up Metal Slug 3!

Nostalgia factor is through the roof

Back when fighting games ruled the arcades-back when there were arcades-the battle for quarters was never fiercer than the one between SNK and Capcom. Capcom may have refined tag-team fighting with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and other titles, but SNK started the trend in 1994 with the first King of Fighters title. King brought together fighters from some of SNK's most popular franchises-most notably Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting-for team-based combat. Issued as a two-disc set, this KOF features pixel-perfect arcade ports of the 2000 and 2001 offerings, and both are a nostalgic throwback to the days of old-school 2D sprite-fighters, where two-in-ones and cross-ups rule, and it isn't uncommon to rack up 13 hits in a single move. Some console-exclusive features have also been included, such as unlockable extra fighters and other goodies exclusive to this home release. KOF 2000's 35-fighter lineup is slightly outnumbered by 2001's 40-fighter roster, but several characters share all-too-familiar move sets. By today's standards, these games probably won't mean much to gamers who grew up on the combo flow-charts of Tekken and Soul Calibur, but these King games are nevertheless very playable thanks to responsive controls and intuitive easy-to-execute moves. If you're a diehard fanatic of 2D fighting games, take the Fun Factor up a notch.

Kof fights there way to the new millenium!

This game should be the hottest fighting game ever! When i went to japan and played it... It was like i was in heaven!This game has new features and new rules. You can unlock old kof videos to remember the classics! It also has a very cool striker system as used in kof 99 where you can get with your partner and attack them out of no where! I Also like the graphics. There staying with snk's good ol' originals! There not as colorful or bright as capcoms 2D fighting games but thats what makes the graphics much more detailed. They also had pretty great endings(Although ive only seen one). With cool animated pictures and a 3d backround feature. And it has a brand new mode called Party mode, Where you have to defeat a certain amount of charecters at a certain amount of health. This game sounds really fun! I had really fun playing kof 2000 at japan and kof 2001 at an arcade in japan. There really fun!

To rent or to buy? I'd say you should rent it when it comes out to make sure if it doesnt suit you much but to my comments i'd buy it.
