2K still the best!

Ok, it may not be the NFL because we all know EA and the NFL monopolized the NFL gaming competition. However, on PS3 at 1080 this game is one of the best looking sports games hands down. The play is bone crunching, hard tackles, gang tackles, interactive fans. The sidelines are brimming with all kinds of activity and when you run out of bounds into the sideline, you hit whomever/whatever is there.

Due to NFL license as mentioned above, 2K had to get creative and I think they did an excellent job and creating some really awesome looking stadiums. The only draw back for me as a single player is that the season is not on-going with the same team. Once you win the APF Championship your done and have to create a new season.

I am not much for online sports play. For the price you can pick this game up for it is worth every cent. There is not a football game out as accurate and as detailed as this game. After 20 years you think EA would get it right but Madden 09 is yet another hyped up flop. Anyone that has played the series for any amount of time can hardly disagree.

The new contender will be back breaker and the Euphoria engine. But in 2010, EA's NFL license expires. Let's hope the NFL will not renew this load of garbage and allow fair competition back into the football franchise. If not, I will continue to boycott the NFL as well.

Not bad for the price.

I paid only $9.99 plus $3.99 shipping so this game was not so bad for the price. I just wanted a football game that I could play. This game is kinda boring though because there's no league and you just play against the other team that you pick to play against. You can pick about 11 football players to be on your team that are really good players. Like Joe Montana. After awhile this game gets boring. I just bought it and I'm already bored. It's just fun to play with when you wanna play one on one football.

No, you can't play with all of the current stars on their current teams, but with the way free agency is these days: no big deal. I wanted to get the most recent installment of Madden as 07 wasn't that great, but 60 bucks! No way! I picked this one up for like 11 bucks and the gameplay is great. Who wouldn't want to play with Steve Young, Roger Craig, and Jerry Rice! Feel free to spend the big bucks on Madden, but I guarantee the fun factor on this one is right up there.

Love This Game!

I love this game! The graphics are great! Playing with the old time players who I never got to see before is so much fun! For the price, this game brings lots of fun to football!

A must buy

This game is amazing and no one should be without it. Some people are talking about it not having a Franchise mode kills the game but This game is great even without the franchise mode. I still play this game everyday and it is fun every time I play it. I mean why wouldn't anyone buy it there are a lot of legendary players that a lot of people wanted to get a chance to pick on their team and now you can have a great team with a lot of great old school players. I wish you were allowed to do a little more customizing but I guess that is Okay the way it is. Also there should have been more alive stadiums but that is Okay also because the game is almost impeccable when it comes to authentic football also this game does have the Refs on the field unlike Madden who just have an open field without any excitement going on.

The best feature of this game is, obviously, the players. Anyone who's been watching football for the past 20+ years will recognize many of the names available to put together a team of great and pretty good historical pro football players. This was a great idea as Madden never did more than make historical teams with "numbers only" players. Another good feature is the price point. $20 or less is a pretty cheap football game for anyone's budget. The gameplay itself is okay and is pretty much what they had with NFL 2K5 before the NFL and EA Sports cut them out of the pro football video gaming business. Overall the game is better than Madden 07 for the PS3 but I doubt that it's better than Madden 08.

All Pro Football 2K8

APF 2K8 is a very enjoyable game. The graphics are good and some of the end zone celebrations are hilarious. It has a large library of plays to choose from on both the offensive and defensive side of the house. The best thing about this game is that you don't have to worry about keeping the rosters updated. If 2k Sports adds more pro players later, okay, but you can do very well with the players already there. Football is football. If you enjoy a mental challenge you won't go wrong with this game. These were some of the good points.

Now to what ails this game. Kicking in this game in any form sucks...to say the least. There's no way of knowing for sure how to make the kick work. Madden has that part down. Also, it's missing what 2K5 had which was: it provided a lot of information about football in general like on the defensive formations etc. The manual leaves a lot of information out and hints that pop up every once in awhile don't stay up long enough for one to read not to mention the size of the font is so small that it wouldn't make any difference if it was up for a whole minute. There's a lot of room in a Blu-Ray. They could have easily added a complete manual plus football 101.

Overall the game is very good.

Good game for football but leaves you wishing

Pros:
-It has the best physics of any football since ESPN NFL 2K5, also made by the same group of people.

-Passing is hard in this game but it's meant to be that way.

-The ball travels realistically and bounces much better than other sports games.

-The players looks much more real as they move up to the line and move along the field.

-Hall of Fame Players such as John Elway and Dan Marino

Cons:

-No franchise, only a single randomized season.

-Team create menu is ok, but leaves one desiring a little more.

-Thanks to EA, No NFL

-Same Commentary from ESPN 2K5, literally changed nothin from the original.

Overall ok game but is still rebuilding to its former glory.

It's Okay

Not a bad resurrection of the original. They did a good job of fine tuning the hall of famers, but it lacks the pep that playing todays players have. It's a shame we don't have a truly great football game in this day and age.

Great Football Sim!

First thing first, judge this game for what it is not what it isn't. Clearly, this game is not Madden and it's not an NFL licensed game, however, it's a great football game. The football play is first rate and it's equally fun to play both offense and defense. I've played multiple defensive positions and they're all solid. The concept is great and it's a lot of fun to build your team from the Gold, Silver and Bronze players from the Hall of Fame. I own Madden 2008 as well, which is also a good game, however, I find myself keep coming back to All Pro Football, it's just a hell of a lot of fun to play.
